*** first & foremost, I am just noticing that the name of the restaurant at the Vanderbilt in Newport RI has actually changed but not yet updated on their Google site. Their restaurant is now called The Gwynne so be sure to look for that name and not the Conservatory

This place has a gorgeous view. It’s a little pricey, but you’re paying for the view. If you’re on a budget, you’ll be getting beer or wine, since their mixed drinks are quite pricey. The largest downfall is that the rooftop bar only has one single stalled bathroom which is shared by men and women, so the line can get really long. Still, it’s worth popping by for a drink, getting some good pictures, and checking out the city.

I had gift certificate, a couple years old, but honored. Basically it was very slow service for 2 of us with only 2 other tables there for dinner. Swordfish over cooked, dry hard crust served on tiny amount of puree in large cold bowl. I sent it back. My dtr had seafood linguine strong smell served in cold bowl. Waitress encouraged salmon, another 40 min wait, hot plate but undercooked. Linguine reheated. Had expensive wine recommended by waitress. I asked for doggies boxes. Both linguine and salmon thrown in together. We threw out next day. Bill was $169.
