Popped into Blackbird on our way across the country, due to its great coffee and food reviews. So glad we did. The food, coffee and service were excellent. The owner even took the added effort to run across the street into Gage Park to bring us food they forgot to put into our to-go bag. Wow! Highly recommend this bistro.

I’ve always received great service during my visits to this bistro. The coffee is fantastic, as well as the food. Pricing is pretty typical for most coffee shops but still affordable. The atmosphere is quaint, tucked in the Fleming Place shopping plaza, but don’t let the small exterior fool you. There is ample seating indoors and out.

We ordered 5 gallons of hot chocolate and 5 gallons of coffee for our staff for part of our countdown to Christmas break! They all LOVED it!! Great customer service and the drinks are delicious! Highly recommend!! 🙂

The food is always delightful with a nice low key vibe to the Cafe. I’ve eaten here 3x – each time trying a new menu item and each time being very pleased with my food! Last time I got a couple pastries as well and they were excellent!

We had a family gathering in SD and were all on way home to Texas and daughter (who was driving straight through) stopped here and told me and her dad (who left after and stayed mooing Topeka) we had to stop. We got coffee and a cinnamon bun and all of it was amazing.

They forgot to make my drink. I sat waiting for 15-20 min before my ride got there wanting to just have a quick drink and it never came. I kept waiting thinking maybe they were just taking a minute since there were other customers and I ordered the special cocktail of the month. I approached the counter eventually and the guy suddenly realized he forgot about me. I asked for a refund and he kept apologizing in between laughing. I immediately left and waited outside for my ride instead, sans drink. Will not be returning.

Blackbird is a great, local café/bistro and honestly, the best place to grab coffee in Topeka. Always consistently great food and good coffee. The staff are always friendly and super helpful. The place itself is clean and comfortable. Wide doors and open space make it wheelchair accessible. It’s a prominent community asset for Topeka and we are lucky to have them!
