What is shave ice?
Hawaiian shave ice is descended from Japanese kakigori, and was brought to Hawaii. The first stands opened in the early 1900s to serve workers a cooling treat during the hottest summer months. A machine is fitted with a sharp blade that finely shaves ice off a round block. Resembles fine fluffy snow and is topped with flavored syrups.

Drive over from Corpus to grab a shaved ice from Tropical Sno. The sugar free menu is more extensive than listed online, so make sure to ask. I had the tiger blood. It was super tasty. It comes in a cup with a plastic sleeve with a sorta plate around it to catch drips. We are saving ours to reuse on the next trip. The snow cone guy was really friendly. We will be back.

Best snow cone you will ever have!! The snow itself is so soft and the perfect consistency, not crunch or gritty at all. It’s more like real snow. And they do not skip on the syrup. Definitely a must to try before you leave!
