First time having African cuisine and it was AMAZING! This is my new favorite place. I HIGHLY recommend the Beef Suya with Chinwe’s Jollof Rice and the plantains are phenomenal. Also, the brown sugar cornbread is some of the best cornbread you’ll ever have! If you haven’t tried Chinwe’s, then what are you waiting for?

Great flavor and tender chicken. Jollof Rice was very pleasant as well as the plantains and chicken. The chicken was very well seasoned too. However, The cornbread lacks flavor, in other words it’s kinda bland. The biggest problem is the Portions. 13-15 bucks gets you a relatively tiny takeout dish. Feels like a 10 or 11 dollar meal considering it’s size. Other than that, the food was great!

So, I wasted my $42 at Chinwe Jollof Bowls. I got 3 bowls of jollof rice and I was so disappointed. It tasted nothing like African jollof. Being from Nigeria, I was happy when I saw the name “Chinwe”, thinking the owner has some connection with Nigeria. The sour taste of the jollof convinced me that the owner can’t possibly have a connection with Nigeria and call that thing Jollof. What was that? Vinegar rice? The presentation of the meal was also awful, looks like some leftover meal muddled together. Don’t be deceived when they tell you that the jollof comes with ‘beef suya’, the so called beef suya is nothing like the suya you’d think. It’s some SHREDDED beef that can’t satisfy a toddler. I regret coming here.
