With all of hype you hear about this place it turned out to be quite the disappointment the trio: ahi, shrimp tempura, and very small portion spicy ahi $15. They gave more rice then entree will not be coming back!

The food is delicious and the tempura selection and fresh sushi rolls are plentiful. The food was as delicious as it looks I promise you that. I ordered the Khal Bi and my partner got the Futakake Katsu Ahi. We both grabbed some gyoza, croquet, I got the fried chicken he grab shrimp.

First time visiting here. The food was very crisp, fresh and delicious. When you order a combo dish, it comes with a green tea energy drink. The first taste was sour but after a couple more sips, you get use to it. My overall experience is GREAT!

Despite the name of the place (okome=rice), their rice was terrible. Dry. I don’t know if they were cheap rice or cooked wrong but they should change the name. Food tasted fine. Had a rib bowl and the price looked decent in Hawaii nowadays but it turned out to be small serving. Probably good for small eaters.

Love the freshness of sashimi. That’s a 5 star, Everything else is just okay, not so much of a fan for overpowering miso sauce on my butterfish. It masks the natural taste of the butterfish, which I so loved. The chicken is another sauce overkill. The nitro tea was a disappointment!!! Didn’t wow us. Hence just a 4 .

Nice to have some Japanese food at Ka Makana Ali’i. The Tonkastu portion was generous and the Unagi was prepared and flavored well. Their sesame seed dressing for their salad is delicious too! I was a little surprised that their rice was dry…considering the name of their establishment is “okome” or “rice”. But hey…the quality of everything else is certainly worth going back for!
