Nader Kaiser (Republik Coffee Lounge) and Gustavo Landgrebe (Tasca Wine Bar / 1810 Restaurant) founded Marina around one simple premise— to create a neighborhood gathering place with a passion for exceptional flavors, wines, and community.
Enter Chef Dylan Stage, who built a menu that simultaneously seems familiar, but fresh. Each dish has a rustic Italian foundation, while also embracing a California-inspired culinary philosophy and seasonal ingredients.
Marina’s wine program has a strong global range—from approachable California classics to *that* rare Italian vintage that you’ve been dreaming of trying, but didn’t think you’d ever be able to find.
The design pulls all the elements together, creating a lush yet comfortable environment.

After hiking in the hills of the San Gabriel Mountains my group looked on Yelp to find a lunch spot nearby we could try. One of the places that popped up was Marina which none of us ever tried so we decided to check this place out. My group decided to explore the à la carte menu instead of the prefixed option. We started with the stuffed zucchini flowers and pear salad, both of which were beautifully presented. The calamari was perfectly crispy and tender, while the Carbonara pasta was rich and satisfying. The satisfaction of getting to pop the yolky egg and mixing it in with the pasta noodles was a chef’s kiss. To top it off, the Margherita pizza was a classic favorite, with a thin and crispy crust complemented by fresh tomato sauce and mozzarella.

Memba Sharkeys? Well it’s all growed up, and now it’s Marina in Pasadena. And let me lay it out for you- they are putting out an assortment of authentic Italian dishes here. What’s that? Well since you asked me- here are my recommendations: start with the nectarine salad with arugula, goat cheese, Parma and walnuts. PS – I am unable to eat Parma and walnuts(among other things), so I usually give them to somebody else, and that person always tells me they were delicious. Be sure to add an order of the squash blossoms. Yes I know they look like fried chicken wings in the photo, but there is not much I can do to fix that. They also have this puffy bread that comes out of the oven looking like a UFO- and to be honest, is not my favorite thing on the menu, but I order it for the “experience”. Now, their pizzas are amazing – I get the Margherita, primarily because I can’t eat sausage, or prosciutto, or meat, or Parmesan. Finally, you cannot go wrong with the pasta- I love the pasta alla nonna, and my wife is a fan of the carbonara and it’s sous vide egg on top. All the others look great but yeah- you guessed it- I can’t eat sausage, meat, etc, etc. Tiramisu and pastries are outstanding. Had to give four stars for service as they forgot my $4.00 espresso and I didn’t realize it until I was all the way home. Maybe I should be thanking them for not letting me get all hopped up on caffeine at this time of night.

Really great vibe. Food was good and above avg but there wasn’t a dish that really stood out. Carbonara wasn’t the traditional Italian one that we were looking for. Service by our waitress was odd, couldn’t quite place it. She didn’t know things were cooked. Otherwise overall a great experience

Though our server was lovely and the food was pretty good, I got two separate dishes and my friend and I both got food poisoning despite eating separate dishes.

I recently read many good reviews from fellow yelpers on Marina and I decided to have lunch here to give it a try. New, modern, intimate dining in Pasadena. Stumbled upon this sexy and modern Italian restaurant. Perfect for a date night or girls/guys night out. Service and food was exceptional. Street and garage parking available. I’d Uber. More opportunities to enjoy the array of wines and cocktails. Oh. Be sure to make a reservation. Though there is limited bar seating with full service.
