Amazing food. I think this will be my new spot all the time. The owners are kind and friendly, the service is very attentive. It’s sad that they had to take lamb off the menu due to the high cost of lamb, but hopefully it comes back in the future. Some of the best Chinese in Reno.

The food here was wonderful off the “authentic” menu. If you just like to get lunch specials of kung pow chicken or sweet and sour pork that come as as huge mound of food, this is probably not the place for you. Shanghai Bistro specializes in food creation in the Shanghai style. Just check out the menu online.

Best Chinese food in Reno/Carson/Tahoe. Best fried rice in NorCal/Nevada. I live all over, eat all over Boston, Miami, SF, Tahoe and within hundreds of miles of these areas. This place has good food! I need to try more menu options next time

I visited this place on 7/3 during my vacation, and it turned out to be the worst dine-in experience of my life. The food was just terrible, and the service was absolutely infuriating from the beginning till the end. As soon as we were seated, the waitress displayed a consistently absurd attitude towards us in every possible way, making us want to leave. This restaurant is a disgrace to the city of Reno, and completely ruined our holiday mood. They also should be ashamed of labeling themselves as ‘Shanghai Bistro’ because Shanghainese people will never treat customers in such a manner.

If I could give -5 stars I would! From the time we walked through the door the waitress was rushing us to order and was rude. She made a big deal about rice costing an extra $1.50 because they do not offer combination meals, which was fine and I stated that multiple times. Unfortunately, my statement to the waitress fell on deaf ears. We ate very little and took the rest to go. The restaurant being empty except for 1 other customer should have been a big warning sign! On a happier note, the food was delicious and the portions were quite large!

Shanghai Bistro is a family favorite. My mother and my grandchildren enjoy the food here. The variety of dishes available is great as is the service.

Do yourself a favor and go try this spot if you want authentic Shanghainese cuisine. I move from the east coast and I can say this restaurants offers some of the best execution of Shanghainese cuisine I’ve ever tried.

I got take out. They took my order over the phone. They commented that it took me longer to get there than they said it would be ready in. Kinda funny like hey you’re late. Food was great. I had some dish with glass noodles in it. Yum. Spicier than I expected but still edible.

I’m giving this a 3 star. Lemon chicken perfectly cook outside and good flavor. But chicken is very dry inside. The chicken has been in the freezer (freezer burn) for a while. Beef is perfect. Tender and great flavor. For the price, just a little bit high.
