This place is crazy good. The food is some of the best bbq I’ve had in Lincoln, their pork is smoked thoroughly and has great flavor. I had the pork on cheesy hash browns and it was definitely worth the drive and I strongly recommend it. The service was great too! The lady at the window was so nice and willing to help even though it was super cold outside. There’s no indoor dining room it’s just a drive thru which I don’t see being an issue as I usually just get take out food these days anyway. If you’re looking for a new place to try, this is your place because you won’t be disappointed! You also are supporting local businesses!

I love when a restaurant has good food AND friendly staff, and they definitely do! We had the sloppy joe, coleslaw, and cheesy hashbrown bowl with pulled pork. The portion sizes are great – we even had extra of the hash to go with eggs for breakfast!! Absolutely recommend!

Nestled away just off 9th & Van Dorn, Vern and Ellie’s is a hidden treasure for those seeking delicious comfort food. As a local business, this drive-thru restaurant has carved a niche for itself by offering exquisite smoked entrees and old-fashioned comfort food. During my recent visit, I indulged in their smoked meatloaf, with cheesy hashbrown casserole and green beans. They were amazing, to say the least.

The smoked meatloaf with cheesy hasbrowns was delicious. Portions are large. We got 2 meals and split them in half for our group of 4. We also had the chocolate cake (good), banana cake (ok IMO), and bread pudding (yummy).

I’ve been here several times and my food is always great. I love the meatloaf meals, the cheesey hash brown bowls, the sloppy joes and various desserts. It’s a bit “out of the way” to go there, but definitely worth the detour.
