This is one of our favorite restaurants. I have attempted to leave a review here many times, but as soon as my food hits the table, I’ve lost all control. Each dish we’ve had here has been delicious. The service is very fast and friendly. The atmosphere is very festive and fun. They’ve added new patio seating outside that was recently remodeled. Everyone we’ve taken here has been very happy with the experience.

It’s a nice place! They have a patio with a t.v. We sat inside as it was too hot outside. Food was excellent, I had the Chile Colorado, steak and onions cooked in a Ranchero sauce. I thought it was really tasty. My husband got the Pacifico Seafood. He demolished that and said it was really good. My daughter got Mac and cheese, she said it was “basic”. For dessert, though she got the fried ice cream and really enjoyed that. We will definitely go back to try other things.

I didn’t love this place. They do have a large a la carte menu which is nice for trying new things without buying the entire meal. Dined alone & service was good. Dined with others and it was unbelievable. Our waiter forgot us on the patio for almost 20 minutes then brought the wrong food. The party next to us was smoking right at the table on the small fenced in patio, waiter didn’t care. Queso is a bit spicy (the original , they also have chipotle queso which I did not get)- not kid friendly. Salsa tastes like spaghetti sauce, pico seemed old (tomatoes were white and soggy). Overall prices are high, service was mediocre at best, and food was not amazing. Margaritas are always good in 100° weather.

By far the best Mexican food we’ve had in the past five if not ten years. The portion sizes are large. We all had leftovers. The staff was extremely friendly and the atmosphere is very inviting. Did I mention the house salsa is to die for? The quality of the food and ingredients was amazing!

The most bland Mexican food I’ve ever had. Yes, I’m from Texas, but there was no seasonings in any of it.

Third visit, and last for a while. Gut rot from trying the Metate, a meat plate on the appropriately named hot stone. Fatty, grisly, and simply disappointing (only shrimp and chorizo were good). Back to El Mariachi in Lake Mills/Watertown. -2 stars this visit.

Food was good, traditional Tex-Mex menu with generous servings. Service was great. I especially liked that the waitress checked on us several times. Atmosphere was OK, although with more of a bar versus restaurant vibe. Also, they charge a 3% service fee if you use credit cards or debit cards, which for me is a negative.

Their salsa and chips was ok. I’ve had better, I’ve had worse.

This is a great Mexican restaurant in the heart of Cottage Grove; probably the best one on the east side of Madison. I have eaten here three times, and every single time the food is phenomenal, the staff is attentive and helpful, and the restaurant is always clean. There are many dishes to choose from, and options for both vegetarian and meat lovers. The drinks are great too. I highly recommend you try this place!
