Listen, I don’t like to talk bad about businesses because everyone has their own taste, however, this is nothing close to Brazilian food. I myself am Brazilian, so I speak from first-hand experience when I say that this cuisine does not have any of the seasonings or authentic flavors that come with my country’s dishes. The staff was really friendly and the vibes are *chefs kiss*, but it’s not Brazilian food.

Five on Black is a trendy Brazilian restaurant that never disappoints with its amazing spicy coconut curry. The flavors are rich and authentic. However, the recent price increases over the last 2 years has made it quite expensive for beans and rice. Despite that, it remains a must-visit spot for its delicious Brazilian cuisine.

My family had settled on KFC for lunch, but I could not partake due to Celiac Disease. I was pleased to find this establishment. Everything is Gluten Free which means it is Celiac safe! If that wasn’t awesome enough the food was amazing. I got the white rice with chicken, black beans and spicy coconut topped off with the cassava flour, cilantro and a lime wedge. I also was given a parmesan roll. Literally everything tasted amazing! I appreciated the lady assisting me when I came in with my ‘I have to be gluten free and have never been here before.’ She was friendly, helpful and just awesome! Highly recommend!

Weird place. Looks and feels like your average fast casual joint with modern decor (think chipotle or pita pit) but the food is anything but typical. The bowl options allow for a significant amount of customization, I tried a few different ways, can’t say what I really thought about specific ingredients or combos, but the two or three times I went here it was really good. I don’t think you can go wrong with the options they have, it would be cool if they had a couple premade suggestions for a first timer though. I was told to just order the half dozen of the pao and I am happy I heeded that advice. They have these little rolls that are filled with cheese called Pao De Quiejo, and while they aren’t quite what you would think of regarding a “little cheese bun” they are amazing. You get one with your bowl but can upgrade to more, and although I don’t know you, i think you want to. I say go here if you get the chance.
