A good meal. I am from the south and my biggest complaint is nobody, even those claiming they are southern dining, knows how to make accurate biscuits and gravy the way you would get them from truly southern states. However, you can’t get corned beef hash NEAR this good anywhere else! The bananas foster french toast was so good, but you may want to bring an insulin shot with you! Woo-wee

Despite its small inside it’s packs a large quality in service, atmosphere and more importantly it’s food! 457 Mason Jar is a delight all around. The staff knows the menu and checks in at appropriate times during the meal. I’ve eaten here on 4 different occasions over the past 4 years. I moved to this location a year ago, from FL (panhandle/NOLA/”Lower Alabama” area) and plan on eating here more often. Come give it a try!

We had a great time on Friday as a family. The food was fantastic and the service beyond friendly. A very family friendly restaurant. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a change in their menu and environment. We will return! The owner was just awesome! Thank you for a great experience! Great cook too!

I had fried calamari, which was great. They do it differently nice light breading over arugala topped with a balsamic reduction and a lemon aioli, amazing take on a classic. The crab cakes were very good, served with a nice roumaldu sauce and a tasty slaw. The woman got the catfish sandwich, I don’t usually do fish but it was good. Sweet potato fries were really good and crunchy as were my regular fries but nothing regular about them, they were great. I got the steak sandwich and it was really good, cooked perfectly and looked good coming out too. Got the carrot cake for desert that was a good idea, topped with shredded coconut and the frosting was amazing. A great lunch, very pleasant place and the staff is super friendly. The owner Mike sat and talked with us, he’s a great guy. I plan on going back, there looked like more food on the menu I want to try. Enjoy.

Awesome lemonade and food. Drinks come in mason jars (haha, i thought this was awesome). The lemonade tasted so fresh, we loved it. Food was great as well. We’ll be going back many more times. Price for pie slices seemed slightly high, but that key lime pie was great! If you’re looking to help local businesses, be sure to stop by here, it’s worth the money and the time. Good food, nice folks, overall great experience!

Argh. i don’t want this to be a bad review. i really wanted to love this place and i still love what this place could be but it fell so far short. Maybe some of that was simply misplaced expectations on my end. I had always heard locals talk of this place as having a homey feel, being like your southern grandma’s kitchen, etc. I expected a family friendly though perhaps slightly upscale restaurant. I had heard they were doing a mother’s day brunch, so I decided to check it out in advance. I went there with my baby, then not quite 1 year old. I walked in to what initially seemed like a bar attached to a restaurant. A large and imposing selection of alcohol on the right wall with a bar and high small tables with pub height chairs to match. The place was almost empty and the waitress stopped talking long enough to stare at me uncomfortably. she told me to seat myself so I walked into the adjoining room expecting a more restaurant style atmosphere. It was VERY SMALL and cramped. a booth with tiny tables along one wall, and again a small high table with pub chairs. Cluttered decor that was dusty blocked much of the windows, along with aging faux stained glass, making the room far darker than I’d expect for lunch time on a beautiful day. There were no high chairs or booster seats. I sat my baby on the booth with me and we awkwardly ate on the same side of a tiny table. I had been so looking forward to some authentic southern food. I lived in the south for 8 years and so wanted some shrimp and grits or barbecue and mac and cheese. There was nothing like that on the menu. It was standard fare, burgers, wraps, etc. I got a shrimp wrap. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, the sauce was delicious. However the wrap was cold and cracking and there was almost no greens in it, as such it was tiny. No children’s menu so I asked for a grilled cheese, it was fine. I ordered desert, a cobbler that was on special. It tasted entirely of butter. You literally could not taste the fruit. After finishing I waited for the waitress but she didn’t come back so I walked to the register at the bar and paid. I did not go back for mother’s day. Maybe the fault is mine, having expected this place to be family friendly but it most definitely is not. And frankly the odd and stuffy decor and underwhelming food means it isn’t a good enough place for a date night without kids. As such I sadly cannot recommend the place, which breaks my heart. I had so much hope and really wanted some good southern food. I guess I’ll keep cooking it at home.
