This my favorite Caribbean place in KC. I always get brown stew, it’s the best brown stew. However, their prices went up to $18 and their portions got smaller. These past two plates I have gotten have been 4 small pieces of chicken. I used to get bigger portions. I thought since they increased prices, they would leave portion as normal or larger, not smaller.

Effort is there, however the oxtail for today wasn’t slow cooked enough. The meat is still on my bones. I have pieces of meat stuck in my front teeth from having to bite the meat literally off the bone . This meat is too tough guys. I have never had hard oxtails. It taste rushed. Most of the meat is still on the bone. I can hear the meat tear off the damn bone. Flavor and rue is there but tis givin basic beef stew and not oxtail.

I love this place. The jerk wings are fire and affordable. Come in early to grab the lunch special, and the fresh patties sometimes sell out by the evening. Homemade pineapple-ginger juice is spicy and sweet.

Food is ok. Nothing special and there are better places in town. I went there because I loved the service and friendliness from the sweet black girl who worked the front. She always made me feel so welcome and had a big beautiful smile. It broke my heart when I went there recently to find she no longer works there. I don’t have an incentive to eat there anymore. I would love to know where that girl is now. I always loved chatting with her while I waited for my food.

I ordered a pan of oxtails and I must say it was the worst I I’ve ever had. Seems like there was rushed. Oxtails had a lot of fat on them and was tough. It was to the point to where my guest didn’t eat them because of all the fat. The highlight was the rice and beans. Wasted 178 dollars. Never again.

I tried it for lunch last week, had the fish basket and it was horrible. They got it out fairly quick for hand breaded stuff which it was but the fish wasn’t good. The hush puppies were tasty but soggy – couldn’t do it, just needed to be smaller and cooked longer.
