So I tried their happy hour, I started off with a seaweed salad. Which is pretty hard to get wrong. I enjoyed it but it was on a bed of lettuce so made it look like you’re getting more. Wings were a good size and were flavorful. Tempura shrimp came with a lot of veggies that were overly breaded to my liking. The shrimp was cleaned out, so that helped. But I wasn’t the biggest fan of it. The rolls are a nice size but the rolls I got were okay. The spice tuna was a solid choice but I don’t think I would be the happy hour sushi again.

We have enjoyed Yumi on three separate occasions, and each visit has been a culinary delight. The atmosphere has got a cool vibe that feels hip but relaxed. Every server we’ve encountered has been a huge fan of the food, and they have made excellent recommendations.

Yumi is an absolutely delicious Japanese restaurant in Edina. The knowledgeable and friendly waitress made recommendations and suggested the Bob Marley Roll (not on the menu). The roll is sweet from the mango salsa, spicy from the chili oil, and a unique mix of fish, avocado, etc. The California Roll is beyond imitation crab as this roll has real crab, which is really nice. The seaweed salad is something beautifully presented with shredded carrots, cucumber, water cress (looked like), and a delightful dressing on the bottom of the bowl. The calamari was lightly fried but light to eat with a nice sweet sauce. All of these are my recommendations and pair that will be a balanced, not overly sweet. Take It To Go libation served in a to-go box. Take note that portions are generous, less is more, and order more if you ate little.

Had a great dinner at this restaurant which recently opened. Our server was very prompt and friendly and the place wasn’t too busy. Sushi was very fresh with generous fish portion sizes especially the tuna sashimi. Good drink selection of wines by the glass, beers, and specialty drinks plus sake and more (the drink menu is a separate sheet of paper front and back with options). Would definitely come back. My only gripe is the soy sauce dishes are too shallow and small.

It’s overall okay. The food was decent but it wasn’t the best sushi I’ve had in Minnesota or in the area. Cute decor but strange music choice. Service was great. I really liked our waitress. However, at the end they added a 4.5% surcharge with no explanation at all. To me, that feels icky and illegal. Instead of increasing the food price, they just add it at the end with no warning and still expect you to tip. This was a dealbreaker for me, and I will not be coming back.

This is a great place for sushi! Highly recommend booking a spot in the sushi area and going there on a Saturday! Look out for the specials. My favorite was the Bob Marley and the Negitoro. Very interesting off the menu drinks too. Tried the cucumber margarita and it was the perfect summer drink. Would definitely go again!
