The Akrami family (Azar & Ata) migrated to the United States of America in the late 1970’s due to the Revolution in their native country of Persia. They left everything behind and with great courage, determination, and faith started a whole new life with their two sons, Ramin and Ashcon.
The word of mouth soon reached the nearby cities to their hometown of Louisville, KY, traveling as far as Washington DC. After a few decades of persistence by friends and foe alike to open a restaurant, Akrami’s sons Ramin and Ashcon finally put a front to a very old family tradition of crazy-good food and then there was born Shiraz Mediterranean Grill.

Food was good. However, the prices were significantly high. A simple lunch was over $20? I would have returned, but prices were to expensive.

Don’t go here! My coworker and I both got food poisoning from the chicken and the steak. The pricing is outrageous for what you get, the fountain drinks are trash (barely carbonated and watered down) and the older lady that works the register needs to take some lessons in customer service. She is extremely rude to all of the customers, I’m amazed that she still works there. If you want sharaz, at least do yourself a favor and go to the holiday manor location instead of here!

The kabab was mainly fat , more than enough to keep the meat together while cooking . The chicken kabab was not even authentic Persian kebab. If you think you are getting a quality Persian food here, you are mistaken .

I’ve been to the holiday manor location 30+ times and have never had a problem. I came to the hurstbourne location today on my 30 minute dinner break, called in an order for 2 kids cheeseburgers. I paid for 2 cheeseburgers, and received bread and cheese with no meat! No meat at all. Then they asked me if it was ok that they were grilled cheese and if I would just take them instead of burgers even though I paid for cheeseburgers. By the time it was fixed, I had no time to even eat my food.

This is a wonderful Mediterranean/ Persian restaurant! I’m always on the look out for an “authentic” Greek salad and chicken shawarma.

Great Food! and understand food cost has gone up and employee labor. $18 for lunch with a 16 ounce drink and a small 3 to 4 ounce side $4 to $5( hummus or rice) with a $10 to $15 Entree (chicken or beef too much for the average for lunch – concern smaller size for a better price for lunch) is just too high for the average blue or white collar customer, unless your an executive. I have been once for the first time in 6 years, probably the last. Wonderful – worth to try once…

This was our first visit to this restaurant. I got take out for 5. The person working the counter was very friendly and helped guide me through the menu choices. He also answered questions on food allergies and was able to accommodate peanut allergies. Everyone enjoyed their choices. The food was well prepared, and good portion sizes. I’m sure we will be back in the future.
