I can’t even begin to describe how good this food is. The Cuban sandwich is on point! The plantains are awesome. What makes it even better is that it’s a vet owned business. What makes it even more sweeter is that it’s a fellow boricuq devil dolphin. We will be back.

My wife and I stopped in with a group of friends. We were amazed! I felt like I had just stepped off of the plane in San Juan. The atmosphere, the hospitality, the food, OMG!!!! If you want a true Puerto Rican experience here in the states, THIS is the place to stop! Definitely will be back.

A little taste of home away from home… This is mostly a take-out location, food is delicious and fresh and well prepared. Staff was helpful with the menu and the service beyond expectations. If you enjoy Puertoriquen / Caribbean foods give La Cocina Del Coqui a try, you won’t regret it. Hope your experience here will be as incredible and delicious as mine.

Overpriced and had a hair in my food. Let them know that I had a hair deep in my food and they just told me it wasn’t there. It was disgusting. Wont buy here again and don’t recommend anyone to buy here, food wasn’t even that good. Response says they were going to remake my food but they never offered. Couldn’t have been my hair the way it was deep in the sandwich. Hair was dark brown like females hair serving food.

The food was delicious, the steak in the tacos was marinated very well. The empanada was also good, but I wasn’t sure what to expect so it blew what I imagined out of the water! The pricing is fair and the portion sizes are large. But there are only 6 seats in the place.

Huge disappointment. Ordered the meal plate and shrimp mofongo. Just terrible! Paid around $38 and sadly end up throwing it in the trash. Will not recommend. I want to be clear, This is not Puerto Rican food.

The first time my husband and I went there was because the locals recommended them… we had arroz con gandules platanos maduros con pernil, the food was ok but it lacked something at which time I couldn’t put my finger on it so we decided to go there again and try something else. My husband had the white rice and beans with bistec encebollado I had a steak sandwich to say the least I could not eat my sandwich the steak was so salty and tough, my husbands beans the sauce was so thick that it just stuck to the rice the rice was overcooked and the steak was over cooked and over seasoned. We have decided that unless we can find a really good Puerto Rican restaurant that we are better off eating at home. Now I’m no chef not by any stretch of the imagination but I can GTD that you would be licking your fingers and coming back for more… just saying. Makes me wonder if anyone has ever challenged their food to a person that has been cooking for years and can beat what you have there. I actually had to turn my head around when a customer asked for tostones and the guy didn’t have a clue as to what they were asking for! He said and I quote I’m Puerto Rican but I don’t speak Spanish… say what!

This is the best kept secret in Jacksonville! Just like home! We loved everything from the time we walked into this little gem of Cultural magic! Everything is homemade, and takes you back to sitting at the table with family enjoying the homemade delicious food mom makes!!! A must try!
