The spicy hot pot had good flavors but it was not authentic 成都冒菜. They just opened so that service was pretty slow too.

Local Chendu is a hidden gem that I am thrilled to have discovered. This delightful eatery offers an array of mouth-watering dishes, with the star of the show being their house dry pot sliced beef.

Haven’t taste any Real spicy food since 2020, they just opened few days ago and I already tried almost everything one the menu. My favorite will be the beef pot, it is perfectly among for two, if you are a spicy lover, you have to try their crawfish and small dish. The combination of spicy and flavors will bring your taste buds into another level, it’s worth trying!

We ordered the meal for two, dry pot fish, which was about $35. It seemed on the high side, but we splurged for a date. When it came, it was huge, and between the two of us, we were full before one bowl was finished. Besides the meat choice, the dish incorporated lunch meat (spam). If you don’t love it like I do, they could probably leave it out. It also had lots of interesting things tied in knots, like seaweed, tofu strips, bean threads, and noodles. Plus a variety of vegetables. Two bowls of rice and two passion fruit green teas were included. We ended up taking the second bowl home, and with rice, it was enough for 3 more servings. Unlike most restaurants nowadays, they did not ask us how spicy we wanted it. It turned out to be a little milder than medium spicy, which was fine. They could probably adjust the heat on request.

They have pretty authentic Chengdu dishes! Skewers, crispy pork, beef tripe, squid are my favorites. Please keep up the spicy level. I am looking forward to more tasty appetizers and entrees.

Delicious food at a family run business with wonderful service. Had the Mushroom Hot Bowl with Beef which wasn’t spicy at all (though she offered to add spice when we asked) and came with a generous pile of delicious beef and lots of toppings. It was fun digging through the soup and trying all the toppings. The broth had lots of mushroom flavour.

Haven’t tasted good so good for a long time, the format is more like small hot pots, and the spicy pot is very delicious.

I absolutely love Local Chengdu. Everything I come I’m never disappointed by the service, the amount of food, the price of the food, and the quality. It may seem expensive for a bowl for one person but you really are paying for at least 2 meals, I’ve never walked away without a to go box of more delicious food. I tend to go for the dry mixed hot bowl with fish and add beef or other add ons for funsies, but all of their bowls and food are great. I especially appreciate the staff, one lady who was helping us brought us an order of free braised quail eggs and it seems like she was the only server. Highly recommend, you will always walk away satisfied, with a smile, and lunch or dinner for the next day. Will come back soon!
