Comal Heritage Food Incubator is a social enterprise lunch restaurant brought to Denver by Focus Points Family Resource Center, a non-profit that serves families in the Globeville and Elyria-Swansea neighborhoods. Its goal is to provide skills in culinary arts and business as a platform for economic development to aspiring women- many originating from Mexico, El Salvador, Syria, Iraq and Ethiopia – to maintain and celebrate their traditions through entrepreneurial ventures.

They are only open for lunch, but they have the most incredible food. Not only is there service great, but their mission is incredible. The food is absolutely delicious. There are 2 way to enter and you might walk through a garden, you’re not lost!

¡Que Viva CoMAL! WOW, the hype is real. This place hits the spot in so many ways as others have stated and I can vouch. Even just the rice (fluffiest) and beans were turly exceptional. Really enjoyed the chile relleno, fresh corn tortillas y LOS CHURROS! Of course it’s so much more than delicious food. The aim to preserve culinary heritage and support newcomers to the US/Denver is reason enough to discover this absolute GEM, and the warmth and generosity of the staff is palpable. Hasta la próxima!

Cannot rave enough about this phenomenal restaurant. The quality of food + a mission I fully support = joyous consumption of super tasty meals. Highly recommend the pork dishes but don’t sleep on the rajas con queso tacos as they are my go to favorite any day. Make sure you swing by!

Tucked in amongst chaos is this little place called Comal. It’s hidden from the main road and next to the back parking lot. Immediately, walking in, I got a homy feeling of familiar scents. There was Spanish music in the background and a kitchen full of enthusiastic workers. The menu isn’t large but the selection is incredible. I went for a salad and thought, “a salad is a salad,” however, the Steak Salad was incredible. The vinaigrette included lemon and cilantro; it was a soft subtle taste that was perfectly over powered by the seasoning in the steak. I wish I would’ve ordered the Birria dish my neighbor had because that smelled amazing, as well. Great place. Great food!
