Nothing beats having the home cooking I try to avoid these days. I ordered friend chicken (dark meat), collards, and Mac n cheese. Fried apple pie for dessert. No complaints! I recognized Don and Doris from their website. Don was making rounds to all the tables ensuring all were satisfied and thanking them for this visit. This is the perfect place to stop at when breaking up my East Coast travel. Great people. Great food!

Absolutely delicious!!! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming it’s just refreshing!!! The owner stopped by and chatted awhile. Just a pleasure. I had the baked pork chop and it tasted like nothing I’ve ever tasted and the yams and potatoes!!! WOW!!! My husband had the fried chicken and he loved it! Thank you Magnolia 23!!! We will be back

Wonderful food and service! The owner and staff are super friendly. The pound cake is so good that it tastes like Grandma made it.

It’s a small restaurant with a great energy! The folks who work there make you feel like they are happy you are there. It’s a real “down home” feel. We had to wait since we were there at the rush but, we were checked on often. Once seated the service was fast and the food was excellent. It was later in the evening so we both opted for cold plates. I can’t wait to go back and try the fried chicken, ribs, collards and/or yams. They all looked delicious!

Love, love love this place so much! The owner is so nice and sweet and always talking to his customers. Best food ever! Service is always excellent. Makes you think you’re sitting in your grandmas kitchen. I drive all the way from Durham just to come here once a week now.

First visit to this quaint little restaurant. There was a line, but it doesn’t take long at all. It gives you time to take in the room, read the “how they started & who they are” information. They have specials on each day. Come early for chicken n dumplings because they run out. I had fried chicken, slaw, corn, & roll. My friend had the same, but with butter beans & potato salad. Everything was delicious. Home cooking at its finest! Mr.Don one of the owners came by the table to say Hello & make sure we were good. It’s been a very long time since I’ve been out to eat & felt like I was eating at a friend’s house. Great food, exceptional service, & I will definitely be back. Hometown friends atmosphere !

What a wonderful gem in downtown Asheboro, NC! Friendly and welcoming owner and staff. The food was seasoned perfectly and served hot, fresh, and fast! I had the chicken dumplings, my son had dark meat fried chicken, and my husband had the chicken pie. It was all delicious! The sides were prepared in perfect southern, comfort style. We cant wait to go again next time we’re in town.

This was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Don, the owner, greeted us at our table and made us feel so welcome. The service was amazing, as was the food. Just good home cooking.
