The fish Khaopoon is delicious! Good papaya, Laos style. And the pork laab was also delicious. Highly recommend!

I only got takeout so I cannot comment on the dining experience. A friend turned me on to the Pho Chicken Soup while I wasn’t feeling well because the broth is marinated for 24+hrs making it very hardy and full of nutrients for immune recovery (that’s what my friend convinced me of at least). I also added mixed veggies for even more nutrients. It was REALLY good, but has a bit more salt than I would like. I went back 2 more times for the yummy pho chicken soup and also added chicken skewers with peanut dipping sauce.

So happy to find this eclectic gem in the bustling area of Yale, New Haven, Connecticut. They serve Laotian and Thai dishes. The crab puffs were delightfully creamy with tastiest dip. The crispy rice dish was also superb, so packed with flavors and textures. The pho could be better though, maybe they were having an off day since judging by their other stellar dishes their namesake dish should be great. A seasonal special is their Lao donuts served with taro cream and condensed milk. Served warm, the skin was crispy but the insides were soft. Swoon!

I visited this establishment today 5/17/2022. I was picking up a order that was stated to me would take “5 mins” after waiting patiently another young man walked in picking up an order. Time goes by on to 15 mins and the young man that was there got served. I asked the cashier how long will it take and she stated “she wasn’t sure”. After waiting for almost 20 mins. I still didn’t receive the order and proceeded to cancel the order. I’m frustrated as this is how I make my daily money and the wait was very excessive. Thank you for reviewing.

Definitely on my list of 20 restaurants that represent my top 10 fav restaurants in New Haven. Totally delish, large portions (that you can even upsize to “Rudy” size!), at affordable prices. Location is decent, street parking available. Open during Covidian days, with spacing, etc. Summer rolls are delish, and all the veggies are super fresh. Can eat gluten free, vegetarian, or pork free here. Highly recommend!

Great flavors. Lots of dishes can be chosen to be prepare Thai or Laos style. There are the standard Thai dishes and a few Laos dishes. Bubble teas with a few flavors.

The Pho scene in New Haven is decidedly weak. I’ve had Pho Thai, Mecha, and Duc’s, and now with Ketkeo the collection is complete. And while New Haven doesn’t have a proper boiling-beef-bone-overnight Pho place, Ketkeo is the best of what we do have. Located in the “cursed” location in the concrete and brutalist behemoth near the Omni, it was quiet when I had my lunch there, but the service was outstanding, with a waiter and assistant keeping track of me indulging the Ruby sized (massive sized) Pho Tai. It’s a pricey bowl of Pho at $14, but the broth is the best in the city. It also comes with an incredible portion of noodles, which expands as it soaks in the blessed, beef infused ambrosia. The beef itself is mediocre, coming out cooked (it should be semi-raw on appearance at the table) though they do have a brisket option on the winter menu which I haven’t seen on any New Haven menus before. The meatballs are better, with a good spring and bounce and flavor, and better accompany the rest of the meal, which is solid, if not excellent.
