Maize Tacos gets a really good 4.8/5 for me and is now one of my new go-to Carne Asada Taco places in Salt Lake! The Tortilla de Maiz was very awesome, and while on the thicker side, not overwhelming and not dry. Great corn flavor. I would 100% start with the Carne Asada. Great quality of meat, great spices, but lets the meat speak for itself, tender, and the al carbon char grilled cook is one of the best around. I wish more places did this with their Carne Asada. One of the highlights of Maize is the fresh guacamole they put on top. Changes the game from other Taco places. Very fresh, all mashed by hand every day. I also think the Pastor is very good. Great sweet pork flavor, fresh Pina on top, and well spiced. Carnitas are good, not my particular favorite style, and it seemed almost different between the 2 locations, so those might be inconsistent. Chicken Tinga tasted very fresh, all quality, just a little under flavored for Tinga.

Maize Tacos on Regent Street is the ideal place for a casual bite to eat before a night at the Eccles. The star of the show are the hand-made tortillas. That said, they pack their tacos within an inch of their lives. My carne asada was stuffed with meat that was crispy on the edges and flavorful. The shrimp in the Surf n’Turf taco was seasoned smokily and the pico played against the smokiness nicely. Fairly priced and friendly service.

Like many people, I have eaten a lot of tacos. This are THE best tacos I have ever eaten. Anywhere. US, Latin America…the best. Period. The homemade soft taco shells are so flavorful! Packed with delicious homey corn goodness! Must try!

This place is great. It’s a go-to when I need something light for lunch, or if I’m just looking for something tasty for dinner. I’ve tried a substantial portion their menu and haven’t been disappointed yet. If you’re going to give it a try, you’ve got to make sure to give the condiments a try – salsas and sauces bring everything together. And the price is great – the food is great and I haven’t found better prices on Mexican food in the downtown area. The staff is always friendly, and the restaurant is always clean, if you want to dine in. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the area.

Walk here to get pick up for home. Ordered a fish taco and a chicken taco. Both tacos tasted good. I also got the loaded nachos which I was expecting to be hot but these were cold. The ingredients on the nachos were lettuce pico de gallo rice chips and a meat of your choice. This would taste much better heated up.

Love this place. I get a trio tacos; lobster, mahi-mahi, and surf and turf (steak with shrimp). The lobster tacos are to die for. The tortillas are super awesome too.

This was my first time trying a lobster taco, and holy cow, it was the best first experience. We caught the shop just before closing and I’m beyond glad we did. 10/10 would recommend for anyone in the downtown area.
