The Surf is a restaurant located on Block Island, Rhode Island. It has been in business since 1969 and is known for its fresh seafood, live music and stunning views of the ocean.

Love that you can grab a table and order food from the bar and it is delivered to you. Great views, great service and the food was amazing. Tuna ceviche was spot on and Mahi Tacos were absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this place for a relaxing afternoon snack or early dinner.

Awesome view and while you do have the food at the bar, it is worth it. Drinks were delicious – rum punch and strawberry basil lemonade (vodka) and the food was outstanding. The pulled pork and pulled chicken thigh sandwiches and the summer panzanella salad was so fresh and tasty. Highly recommend!

This place was awesome. Great appetizers and entrees. The lobster roll was ridiculously good. The BBQ chicken thighs sandwich with potato salad, also hittin hard. This place had some really great atmosphere for couples. I was there with my fiance and she absolutely loved it. We got a deal for two hours on the mopeds and spent at least 45 min here . Service is

I did not enjoyed eating at this restaurant, in order to be seated they took our phone number and couldn’t give us an estimated time so my family and I waited for an hour and 10 minutes to be seated. You have to order yourself so if you have a question you have to wait until maybe some waiter walks by and they didn’t even know the answers when asked about the menu and of course you have to tip them at the end but I don’t even know why. You can order only food and then for the drinks you have to walk to the bar and get them yourself and then if you want water for the table you have to go to the front where they have a water dispenser so you help yourself. Then another 20 to 30 min to get the food, they serve you everything on paper and disposable cutlery. Good luck cutting the steak!! And the food was a small quantity and not very tasty. I only gave them 2 stars because of the view. I do not recommend this place at all.

Not my favorite on block. You have to order from the bar and don’t actually get served. It’s serve yourself everything, from waters to silverware to ordering your own food. For the higher prices and then you are expected to tip on your meal when no one is even taking care of you, not worth it. Food is mediocre at best. There are far better options on the island with just as great views!

Amazing view but you have to go up to the bar to place food/drink orders and the food portions are ridiculously small for the price. Very generic menu. Bartenders are miserable and make it clear they are unhappy. There is much better elsewhere on the island.

We went here with a party of 15 they set us up in this nice little surf shack with a great veiw of the beach and we sat there for over an hour before someone came over and told us there were no waiters and that it was bar service only for a party of 15. The surf used to be great but new management has really gone downhill on the service and then menu has been cut down quite a bit. We called the National across the street and they were happy to transfer our party there with no wait, the service was 100x better and the food was delicious. We will no longer recommend the surf for anything other than bar drinks.

Starting with reception and seating, waits are short due to well organized staff. Very friendly and helpful right from the beginning. Beautiful view to the beach and water. I’m not used to ordering at the window and having the food brought to you, but there is a first time for everything, it wasn’t bad at all, I’d definitely like to eat there again when I’m back on the island. Food is fresh and good, I recommend the place. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I was disappointed. I went to this place thinking it was going to be really good by what it had on its menu. Very nice young man sat us but told us we had to go to the bar to order (which is totally ok especially seeing how everywhere is lacking staff right now.) Went to the bar and the person who took our order didn’t seem very happy to be there. I ordered a grill cheese but asked if I could get fries instead of the potato salad because I am allergic to eggs. Was told no but I could get coleslaw instead. (Coleslaw also has eggs because it’s made with mayo). Said it’s ok I’ll just have my husband eat the potato salad. Still don’t understand why I couldn’t substitute it for something that is usually cheaper than what they were offering. I mean the kids meal had it. Anyways I ordered a drink called the kook. It was 13 dollars not filled all the way up and in a small cup. I understand I’m on an island but this is a little extreme. I won’t be back to this restaurant next time. I wish them luck during this crazy time though.
