Avo is a regional Italian restaurant from New Orleans-born chef, Nick Lama, a third-generation Sicilian. Avo is an Italian word that translates as grandfather or ancestor. The name is both deliberate and meaningful. The menu at Avo is inspired by his family’s recipes but served with a fresh perspective. Classics like meatballs and lasagna are standards, with inventive takes on dishes like the grilled octopus. While the food is Italian-focused, many ingredients are Southern-grown and locally harvested.
Sophisticated destination serving seasonal Italian dishes & cocktails in a handsome space. Based on 271 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.5 stars. Price $$$

I wanted to love this so much, unfortunately it was just okay. The pasta was cooked perfect but the sauces were just okay. My unleaded drink was FANTASTIC. I might skip this for other options in NOLA.

I had the chicken picatta and my friend had the snapper special which was in seafood bisque. Both were delicious.

Avo is amazing!! I’ve not had great experiences with fresh pasta in the past, but my fettuccine was perfect. They found a way to make the food delicious but light. Our cocktails, apps, salad, entrees, and dessert were top notch. The staff was wonderful and the restaurant was beautiful. We will definitely be back!

The entire experience was great. Drinks were delicious, and every item on the menu was prepared perfectly. The meatballs, crawfish ravioli, and Brussels sprouts were favorites. The restaurant has a quiet, romantic atmosphere without being overly formal. Highly recommended!

Well renowned restaurant lives up to its name. Italian food mixed with New Orleans seafood and styling is a match made in my tummy. We went here for our anniversary & it was a good choice! We started with their seared Octopus & Arancini w/ Tomato Basil Sauce . Our entrees were both delicious, from the lobster shells to the crawfish ravioli. How could you go wrong with any of this!

Came in from out of town to take friends and family out to dinner. The company was superb. We’ve been to many 5 star NOLA and surrounding area restaurants. Environment was lovely. Falling short was the worst, most bland calamari I’ve ever had and a very weird single stall bathroom right in the middle of the dinning room. Short ribs were almost all bone on a bed of grits, for 2 of our orders. Lemon ice desert cocktail … don’t bother. Then to top off our +$500 dinner (with tip)… our server walked up to the table with a POS credit card sale… seriously. Don’t bother

I had high expectations… calamari was very oily, meatballs were good but nothing special, focaccia was delicious but served with plain oil I would have expected some herbs in it, the short rib marsalla was not good… over cooked with a side of flavorless mashed potatoes that I could have sworn were instant… what saved the day were the delicious day’s special of pasta w shrimp and the superb cheesecake. Service was ok but untrained…
