The first Frugals location was opened in Port Angeles, Washington, in June 1988 and was immediately popular. It was followed in September 1990 by a second unit in Tacoma, Washington. In October 2000, operations began in Auburn, Washington. One year later, another unit was successfully opened in Kalispell, Montana. Each location has garnered a loyal following due to its dedication to simplicity, efficiency, quality, and service.
The Spokane location was established in March 2022.

Great place with a nice, classic diner feel. The staff was incredibly friendly, and greeted several customers by name. The service was quick and efficient, and it was a fun experience to sit at the bar and watch close up the food preparation. The burgers themselves were fine— nothing to rave about, but definitely a good choice if you’re looking for a nice burger joint to stop by in Spokane.

Worst experience ever. We own several small businesses in the Spokane area. We went to Frugals after a super long day of construction on a new store. We’ve never really had issues before this. It was a large order and the mess up isn’t what I’m dumbfounded by. We get our orders home to find three of their bacon burgers had zero patties. I immediately called. The woman who answered listened to the issue and asked me to hold for one moment, at which point she SET THE PHONE DOWN WITHOUT MUTING IT. My husband wanted to take me here as a lunch date. He visited this location a few times and raved about this local diner. I loved the 50’s ambiance and feel while waiting for our order. I am sorry to admit that I was a bit disappointed. The food took longer than I expected. I wasn’t too thrilled about the crispy chicken sandwich (Chick-FIL-A is better), but the fries were crispy and well seasoned. I will, however, give this business another try and update my review.

Awesome burgers! We spent $20 and are full! The food was excellent. Burger was perfection and the fries have the perfect amount of seasoning. Their tarter sauce should be put in jars and for sale. We hit them up before a Gonzaga game and between the food and great service we will be going back and bringing friends. Just YUM!

Frugals lives up to its name and fills a niche in the Gonzaga-U district, prices are economical and quality is very good. The Crispy Chicken Sandwich was cooked perfectly. Cheese Curds were slightly crunchy on outside and smooth mozzarella on inside. French fries taste freshly cut and enjoyed the Fry Sauce. Cheddar Burger had all the right elements – yay for sliced pickles! Huckleberry shake had good flavor. Seating inside is very limited, consider going at slightly off hours to avoid the rush. Drive through is a good option too! Service was friendly and efficient.
