We had been looking to buy a house in Rockport for years, and when the right one came on the market, we made an offer without seeing the house. Our offer was accepted and we all hopped into our car and drove to Maine to see what we had just committed ourselves to buy. That night, when we were still deciding whether the house is for us, we ate at Nina June. We all had amazing meals. My son had pasta with crab, and that’s still his go to dish whenever it is on the menu. The service was friendly and attentive and we were not rushed. It was then – sitting there with family – that we decided to proceed with our purchase. We don’t regret it, and Nina June is now our most favorite place to eat anywhere. Sara and her staff are simply amazing: Mediterranean flavors made with Maine ingredients. The wine list is superb, and Chip makes fantastic cocktails and is a wonderful raconteur. We go there with friends, and we’ve made friends there. Put simply, highly recommended!

Nīna June was such a special dinner for our last night in Maine, our first time there. I only realize now it was the chef Sara Jenkins herself who welcomed us and sat us down at our table with painting like views and magic light of Rockport Harbor, and who later politely smiled at my newly 2 year old daughter quickly expiring after dinner, running around the outer halls… Anyways, we feel so lucky to have been there and so well fed, our whole family. The menu was small and simple and unfussy. It was easy to make choices. We chose the mussels over the oysters, only because we were staying nearby to Aphrodite’s in Spruce Head, and enjoyed them at home daily. The mussels were so delicious and lemony, garlicky, and with the flavors of the white wine. Our waitress Ali and Chip the sommelier both brought us more homemade bread to finish the last drops. Their service was so warm, and conversational. We tried to book an early reservation so as not to disturb other diners with our kids, but we never were made to feel like an inconvenience, which was nice. We long to feed our family good food, and also enjoy ourselves, when we (infrequently) can. The antipasto della cassa was balanced with figs, seeds, almonds, homemade breadsticks, duck pate, meats whose names I can’t remember, and ditto for the cheeses. It was all perfect and fresh. We had ramps that were tender and green. Our daughters loved and finished every last bite of the duck egg tagliatelle. The halibut with spring peas and radishes was delicious too. I can’t wait to return, to Maine and to Nīna June. I feel lucky to have experienced this all still in the “off” season, when Maine is just now warming up for the spring.

A good spot for a cocktail and oysters in a cute setting, but don’t eat a full meal here. The Aphrodite oysters are delicious and served with cilantro & mignonette.

Our razor clams and tomato salad were delicious to start. We each had the eggplant parmigiana and it was fabulous! Such fresh ingredients and flavor. Not to mention the excellent wine to go with our meals. Another superb meal at Nina June tonight!

An absolutely terrible experience. Our server was awful. We had a 7:30 reservation and nearly 1/4 of the menu was unavailable. One in our party ordered the last pasta – only to be told 30 minutes, at 8:30 that they had run out. The server also announced that there were two burgers left – that the chef likes to make a few each night for kids (manchego and tomato jam on a burger for kids??) – a rude comment which is unnecessary to those ordering a burger. No beans, No burgers, No pasta – and 30 minutes later after taking our order we were left to reorder. Same story at desert – we ordered lemon verbena gelato only to find out ten minutes later, no lemon verbena gelato. The food that we did get was unremarkable – two entree’s were dry and flavorless. Not at all impressed with Nina June – and most specifically the service. Sad for what could be an incredible place.

Pretty space. Very nice server. Kind of missing it on the entrees. Ribeye was ordered Medium Rare, and a very thin piece of beef cooked Well was served. Two large chunks of nearly raw onion and some lovely greens accompanied it. Blue Fish was nothing special. Overall a fun night with okay food.

Nina June is definitely our favorite restaurant in midcoast Maine. The menu changes weekly and chef Sara and her staff cook everything to perfection, plus an amazing wine list curated by legendary sommelier Chip. I have celiac and they are incredible at accommodating and creating new items just for me. Love the entire staff, and this place feels like home! Try the chocolate cake, pastas/risotto and always oysters!

Very expensive. Very small portions. Most expensive cost per ounce dinner ever maybe. Service was great at first when we were early and one of 2 tables. Then they got busy and service fell off. Then they auto-grated the tip. They make it sound like you MUST do the tasting menu in advance but others ordered off a regular menu. Very good food really but just not good value. We would not go back.
