The restaurant I visited that specializes in BBQ exceeded my expectations. I ordered the pulled pork and smoked chicken, and was delighted with the generous portions. The meats were tender, flavorful, and expertly smoked. Accompanying my meal were a variety of delectable sides. The French fries were crispy and perfectly seasoned, while the cheddar grits provided a rich and creamy complement. The highlight, however, was the jalapeno cheddar cornbread, which added a delightful kick to each bite.

I’ve had McDoubles that hit harder than the ribs here. The ribs were very dry, and had a tough skin to them. Flavor was underwhelming and the sauces were subpar. Ordered the coleslaw which was all cole no slaw. Pretty much just cabbage with little flavor. The beans and collard greens were decent. Ordered a $14 drink and it seems like they forgot the vodka. Might as well been a dang lemonade.

We had a great experience with Bitterroot catering our reception! They were communicative and friendly, they offered their expertise based on working in the space (Cathedral) before, and our guests were commenting positively about the food all night! Thanks to Camille and Hannah for a great event!

Amazing! The Stonehenge (cranberry turkey basil cream cheese) and Smokey the Pig sandwiches were unbelievable. So good! My husband and I would be regulars if we weren’t from the other side of the country! Great stop in Ballard.

We walked into this place because the smell was that good. We weren’t even looking for barbecue. Our server was really cool and I think that was the best part. The most delicious dish we had was the fries and even though I am a fry fiend I’m not sure that’s a good thing. The grits were also delicious the slaw unfortunately had no flavor and the ribs were pretty dry. Pretty big bummer there but still giving it four stars because Experience was great and the few things we did enjoy were pretty dang good. My partner really loved the mac & cheese, I must add that.

UTTERLY AMAZING. So good for the price. This sandwich was $12! I only had half for dinner with hush puppies (DELICIOUS) and some cornbread (which was alright but the sandwich was the real star). Can’t wait to go back. Let the pics speak for themselves.

By Seattle BBQ standards, Bitterroot is quite good, but by southern standards, it’s lacking a lot. The meat is generally well cooked, but the cut on the pork ribs is inconsistent and, at times, will be delivered with the membrane and tendons still attached. The sauces are genuinely very good, especially the spicy sauce, and they have the best North Carolina sauce I’ve found in Seattle, but the fact that it needs sauce to be good is a problem. The ribs come out already coated in a sauce and are missing the flavor of the dry ingredients that they probably don’t apply to them. The brisket is very tender, again very well cooked, and is probably the safe bet to order, but was quite dry one of the two times I’ve had it so sauce may be needed to moisten it. All that said, it’s not a bad place, and in Seattle, you’re hard pressed to find better.

Paid $18 for sliced brisket and what came is 80% fat. Gross. Super disappointed. Mac N Cheese and fries were good.
