Felix’s Restaurant & Oyster Bar Menu – Mandeville, LA

Type : Cajun restaurant

Location : Mandeville, LA

The Felix’s story is that of the New Orleans oyster bar. Ask any New Orleanian where their dad or grandpa took them for their first oysters. The answer is always Felix’s..

Back in the 1940’s, Felix’s put the New Orleans oyster bar on the map, creating a place where oyster-lovers could ‘belly up to the bar’ and have the freshest oysters shucked right in front of them. Felix’s fast became a New Orleans’ institution that drew a devoted local, national and international following which has inspired generations of oyster fans.

What a great place for some great food and fun times. Stopped in for a quick bite and stayed for a while. It was Friday night so they had a band playing in the courtyard which was incredible. We had their Char-Boiled oysters which are some of the best you’ll find on the North shore had three dozen that were completely consistent shucked perfectly and grilled to perfection. The staff at this restaurant is incredible everyone was so friendly and inviting it made the atmosphere of the place so fun. Will definitely be back again. Also they have one of the best bread puddings you’ll get in the New Orleans area The rum sauce is so incredible and the bread pudding is cooked to perfection. Had to update this review after eating the Oyster Rockefeller if you eat here try them, haven’t had them in 20 years and these are spot on New Orleans style.

Just had brunch at Felix’s today in the bar area and the service is amazing. Sara the bartender was awesome and Jessica the manager was an absolute pleasure to talk to. Haven’t been here in a while but now I feel bad not coming more often. Great day happy people and awesome food.

Lots of food for the price. Our waiter was great with suggestions and answering questions. The key lime pie was some of the best I’ve had.

The picture is nice but the quality of the “certified wagyu” burger was not. Thin patty, rather bland for $15.99. Much better burger at Times Grill or Rusty Pelican for a few dollars less.

They had a REALLY good classic rock band, which is really hard to come by these days… The only thing that ended up being better than the music was the food

May 1, 2023, 9 years since my wife and I have been on vacation. We drive 6 hours to the Gulf Coast and want a seafood dinner for our 19th Wedding anniversary. I have the grilled Mahi Mahi, she has the fried shrimp. The spices (after demanding no pepper) ruined the taste of the otherwise perfectly cooked seafood. My wife’s tongue cancer (and reaction to spicy foods) was explained as a reason for our special request. I have no restriction in diet and could not enjoy the $40.00 slice of fish. I hate that the great service of host and waitress was tainted by the cook or owner’s choice of seasoning.

I’ve been to the Felix’s in the French Quarter a couple of times, but this was my first time coming to this location. Let me tell you: it is every bit as good as the one in the Quarter! I got the chargrilled oysters and red beans and rice, and they were out of this world. It’s nice to know that I can get the high quality Felix’s food without the hassle and crowds of the French Quarter. I will definitely be back here, and more often.

Went last night with a party of 30 to celebrate family. Most of our food was underseasoned. My mother also received cold food. We had two servers and one was able to keep up with their half while the other had us waiting an extra 40 minutes for checks. Before we started ordering she asked who was with who but I guess she didn’t ring in our items that way cause her to be confused in the end. Instead of just coming to the table and asking who got what we patiently waited while she was ghost. After 40 minutes a member of our party asked to speak to the manager when whom I believe to be the kitchen manager came out. I say that because he was not wearing a blue shirt like the original manager who had been working with us (very sweet and attentive btw) instead he had on a black chefs apron. Well he was rude and combative about something that was not our fault. We were out with senior citizens who needed to get in bed but instead were stuck at a table waiting on an inapt server. The best thing we had last night was the crawfish. The chargrilled oysters were disgusting and you couldn’t taste any Parmesan cheese only butter without any other seasonings or flavor. I will never recommend this location again!

Sunday brunch shrimp and grits at Felix’s Mandeville is incredible and, honestly, better than the other locations on the south shore. We love the staff here, as well, and come as often as we can. Don’t hesitate to spend a Sunday, or any day, here!
