Very good food at an affordable price. I work in Downtown DeLand and visit once or twice a week. Love the Turkey Reuben and the buffalo chicken pita. Yum! The fish sandwich is great as well. Counter service-so you order and then go to window to pick it up. Always quick and efficient.

What a throwback to 1984 lunch counters. The food is solid and the chicken velvet soup is unlike anything I’ve ever tasted. I had half a turkey sandwich with cheese and a cup of potato cheddar soup it was the perfect lunch. The tomato and lettuce were seriously fresh and good the turkey was nothing special but good, the bread and mayo lightly toasted and delicious. Didn’t take a picture because I ate it far too fast and didn’t think! Just a simple sandwich with fresh ingredients, nothing special no bread you can’t pronounce or greens you’ve never heard of.

It was a good place for a quick bite to eat. Staff was friendly. I got a roast beef club with a side of their velvet soup. Have to say it is something I have never had before. The broth for the soup was thicker than a chowder. It was good.

Ordered a cheeseburger and fries and a drink cost 13.00 …burger comes out nasty bloody red…sent it back…then they re-cook it…it comes out the same. This place is a dump. The tables wobble..salt and pepper empty..ketchup will barely squeeze. Don’t eat here. There’s a million good places downtown. I can get a better burger from burger king.

I ordered a steak and cheese sub. I eat them all over DeLand. This was a cheeseburger! They didn’t ask me what kind of cheese I wanted and then put yellow American. It tasted good for a cheeseburger. I asked for extra raw onions and that’s what I got. Fries were ok. I did try the velvet soup and it was only mushrooms and cream. I didn’t get any chicken at all. It was ok food, but not worth $13 with tip. Also, they need to be better at talking about the customers because I could see them talking about me. Waitress stood there watching me eat because I said it was to go. I can’t finish an entire sub so I wanted the paper to wrap it to go when I finished eating what I could. The times we are in, money is scarce and if I pass “Wrap it Up” to give you a try, you should treat me better. Have a blessed day!!

We have been going to this Cafe for about 10 years (since it was Cooks Cafe) and we have never had a bad meal! The service is so friendly and wonderful and we always enjoy stopping in to see Connie and her family. The Red Velvet soup is a MUST try and my 5 year old says Connie makes the best grilled cheese in all DeLand!

Very good food, cooked right there to order. Small place with about seating for about 35-50 inside but there are tables in the hallway of the building as well. Always get there Fried chicken pita with bacon and honey mustard! Great honey mustard! Also love their peanut butter cup cookies!

I did not care for this place much at all. I ordered the mango chicken salad, greens were nice and fresh/crisp, no mango in it at all except for the dressing, chicken was cut very thin and SO SO salty. My daughter ordered tuna salad with fries, no fries when we got our order.

I have loved this place for so many years!! But the past few months I have gone I have been disappointed by the soup. I love the chicken velvet. Today I got a bowl of it and all I could find in it is 2 mushrooms, no chicken… This has happened everytime I get this soup now. Please change it back to the old way of lots of chicken and mushrooms.
