Rubens New York Pizza secret dough recipe has been passed on to the current owner, Ruben Escamilla, by a former New York City pizza chef, who personally trained Ruben to create the perfect crust- not too crisp, never soggy and always foldable before inserting into your mouth, as any self-respecting New Yorker or true pizza fan will do it.

Wonderful tasty food and plenty of it. Don’t let the process scare you away – share! HUGE sandwiches – my favorite is the Philly cheesesteak with onions and peppers. The pizzas are outstanding and 18” is extra large – humongous! Great crust. Do yourself a favor and check them out!

I had their Ruben’s Special which is their take on a reuben except for serving it on their roll which was a great roll. A hoagie style roll. Everything was delicious and very filling. And hot! Be careful taking the first bite.

Quality ingredients and meats. Tried the Ruben Special and it was simply delicious. The bread was fresh and toasty. The swiss was mildly nutty and nicely melted. The pickles and dressing were a perfect pairing. The Pastrami stole the show and was super flavorful. 5

Stopped here on Lunch while I was in Portland doing my door to door sales job. Best pizza I’ve ever had. Perfect on the sauce cheese and toppings. Definitely recommend stopping here for some grub that will fill you up. 5 stars well deserved.

New York Ruben’s is a delicious local New York themed restaurant. Their staple is the pizza (which is tasty, large, and cheap), but they have a wide variety of other kinds of food such as sandwiches, appetizers, etc. The service was a little slow just because they were making our orders from scratch. The restaurant itself is very clean and well kept. The owner and staff are very kind people. Great place to go and eat.

HUGE sandwiches! Come hungry! Me and my boyfriend shared a Ruben and it was super filling and extremely delicious! The staff here are very friendly and nice. The girl working the register was very nice when I asked about the scrunchies on the counter they were selling. She told me her little sister was making them! I purchased one to support the young entrepreneur!

Looking for a fantastic true NYC slice of pizza? This is the place! A bit up there on the price per slice, but the slices are pretty big and the flavor is phenomenal! We stopped in for a quick bite before sitting in “quality time” Portland traffic on our way home and boy are we glad we did! We got a slice of the meat lovers pizza and it was absolutely scrumptious! The other slices looked mouth watering as well. I loved that they didn’t just serve up what was was in the window just as is; they cut a slice and warmed it up in the fire oven. The crust was crispy but soft in the middle with a perfect amount of char. The cheese wasn’t excessive and the think layer of meats wasn’t too overpowering over the flavor of the pizza’s basics (sauce, cheese, and crust). The atmosphere was also pleasant and had a nice nyc Italian feel to it. A couple corner booths and tables. Seemed like a great family place to share a large pie. Will definitely be back!!
