Hip cool atmosphere with amazing beautiful dishes. Favorites were the hamachi crudo, Moroccan cigars, citrus cured salmon, and scallops. For desert the cream puff with salted caramel is fabulous and the malabi is not to be missed!!

Had a fantastic dinner at The Benevolent King. Everyone there was very nice and they did a great job pacing the courses. We started with the cracked olives as a nice briney snack as we decided on our meal.

We stumbled upon The Benevolent King the day they opened the doors, years ago, and have found ourselves coming back over and over. For many restaurants, especially since covid, the quality tends to go down, over time. At The Benevolent King, it has only gotten better every time we’ve been. While we tend to prefer variety and interest over routine, I will admit, we’re finding ourselves to be semi-regulars here. It’s become a favorite for date nights and special occasions. And the menu always has new, interesting and creative additions — it’s never boring!

I think I could have had a great meal but the waiter promised to have the cook leave OFF a spice that had heat because I can’t handle ANY heat. When I tasted it, it was extremely hot for me and he said they had left off the spice and encouraged me to try eating it. After eating a few more bites, I told him I couldn’t eat it and asked for a cup of milk to cut the heat. I was charged full price for a plate I couldn’t eat because of the heat (which I thought we had cleared up when ordering) and even charged for the milk.

Had the pleasure of dining here recently. We split the pea falafels, crudites, and cigars. All were excellent; best falafel I’ve had. Also did entree scallops and lamb meatballs, both were delicious. Cocktail selection included some unique ingredients and were enjoyed by all. Fun choice when you want some different.

The Benevolent King was the last stop on dining at every restaurant in the Bengelina Hospitality Group. From the second we walked in the door to paying the bill, everything was top-notch!

Tiny little spot in Maplewood that was perfect for a date night. We sat at the bar and had perfectly executed cocktails, a caprihina and a house old fashioned. We ordered two snacks, both were superb, one pictured here. The flavor and textures were so good, and the atmosphere is modern and spare, but cosy. Highly recommend.

Omg, this place was so good. The service was fantastic and there wasn’t a thing that I put into my mouth that failed to fire off many, many pleasure neurons.
