I just discovered this hidden gem when I went in for lunch on Friday. The menu was limited, but everything I ordered or saw come out looked absolutely delicious. The salmon was perfectly cooked. I can’t believe the quality of the food and at such a reasonable price. I’m so happy to find a place this good in Topeka. It’s in a historic building has great ambiance. Luis’ has a speak-easy vibe and a full bar. It’s a small place so dinner is by reservation only. I can’t wait to go back.

How do I make “wow” sound more like “WOW!!!”?? First timers are by personal reservation ONLY. This isn’t your average catering. not everyone delves into the art of service. The hostess really knows wine and her assistant was EXCELLENT. The food was so beautiful, I forgot about my camera!! This place doesn’t disappoint.

Amazing food, excellent service. Went for lunch and got to try 3 different menu items. The salmon, cuban sandwich and fried chicken were all wonderful. The salad was fresh and the cookies were soft. Friendly portions. Very highly recommended. Great place for a date.

I had such high hopes. My wife and I had not been out on a date in a while. So when we heard about this place and read reviews, it sounded perfect; pricey, but perfect. When we arrived, we didn’t see any signage to know we were in the right place until we got out of the vehicle and walked over to the stairs leading down to the front door, where there is a small plate on a crossbeam with the name. That’s open for interpretation. Let me say now that our meal was delicious. My sirloin and my wife’s salmon were both cooked perfectly. All the flavors were absolutely on point. But my accompanying mashed potatoes and green beans were room temperature. The only bread served was a tiny slice the size of an Oreo cookie with our small portion of soup. And our crème brûlée didn’t set all the way so the bottom was runny. With a set price of $55 per person, I expected more. The service was great! But I would suggest the servers could wear something rather than street clothes. Call me critical, but We were looking forward to a fine-dining experience. And for our first time visiting the place, we didn’t find that our experience matched the cost.

We had given up hope of ever finding a good breakfast in Topeka, then we found this place! The food was amazing, and Menda, our server, took excellent care of us. The biscuits and green chili gravy were so delicious. The Venezuelan breakfast was incredible! We will be back! Can’t wait to try lunch and dinner!

This place must be making a lot of money. Like another reviewer ..unfortunately we were not able to try this entity as they would not call us or our sister company back after more than 15 to 20 phone calls. Started calling in September to schedule an xmas party for 10. Talk to 1 girl initially she stated they could book a reservation, told them I would call right back with a count, same day, no answer. Leaving messages for weeks. Sister company/co-worker called for weeks finally told he was going to be gone for a week and they would call us when he got back. Nothing..today I called 1 last time. (I know.. why?!?!), left a message and surprise, got called back. (Probably becuz I said “your message states you will call back asap, I hope thats true this time.”). Anyway, all booked of course, now that its a month and a half after trying to book a xmas reservation!!! Its a shame, probably would have made $300.00 just in tips from that evening! Apparently don’t need our business. Chez Yaus here we come! Great French restaurant!

Luis Place is a gem in Topeka that I was unaware of. But now I know about it I’m truly excited to come back! The food was off the chart. Steak is local sourced and you can cut it with a fork. The salmon was awesome too. The old fashioned was just right. Not to sweet. Not too much alcohol taste. Very happy with the entire experience.

Really enjoy wine tasting on first Wednesdays. It is always very nice wines and the food is ‘small plates’. We are able to learn a lot about the wines we try and the area in which the grapes are grown. One nice part of this tasting is the amount of wine we are served, about 5-6 ounces, enough to enjoy with our food. Now the food… it is beyond excellent! Always a joy to my taste buds.
