West Village Tavern in Concord does an excellent job with a clean updated comfortable Tavern feel, sleek enough for a great date night.

I ate here twice a few weeks and a month after it opened, and enjoyed the food and beer selection. Essentially the same basic layout of 99 (which it was before) but upscale on food and drinks. Poke bowl was great.

We went to West Village Tavern last weekend for dinner and I can not say enough about the entire experience. From the moment we entered the restaurant to check out was not only smooth, but so welcoming.

It’s a big change from the 99 that used to occupy this space. They have renovated and updated the bathrooms and even have Molton Brown soap.

I have been to this establishment a few times since they have opened. I love the bar area where you can just sit and chat with a friend. The dining rooms are nicely updated. The food I had was good and I feel like the selection on the menu can cover a lot of different tastes. Overall, Concord needed a tavern and this fits the bill.

I have to say I think the restaurant was better when they first opened. Went recently and ordered the short rib for $27. The asparagus was limp and soggy. Mashed potatoes were cold and tasted just average. The hostess station needs extra training. It seems like they have no idea where to seat people and aren’t very attentive to people waiting to be helped. No communication whatsoever. We had a reservation for 7 and were there at 6:55. Another couple came in without a reservation and were seated right away while we waited another 15 minutes to be seated. Drinks are also over priced. Wait staff is great.

Just had a terrific lunch. Beer batter fried haddock sandwich with an excellent Caesar salad side. Excellent service – friendly and efficient. I really like that she asked about allergies before we got started.

Being familiar with the building being the former 99, I knew what to expect as far as the restaurant layout. But the decor is a major improvement from what they had. Being a fan of bowls I was pleasantly surprised to have many options to choose from. My meal was excellent and I was thrilled to end it with a box of doughnuts which made the meal extra special. Only downside in my opinion is that there were a bit too many people in the waiting area ( Which you can expect from a great eatery )
