Intimate experience with extraordinary dishes. You can really tell that so much time and thought was put into each dish. Every single piece surprises you with unique flavor combinations and beautiful presentation. The chefs take the time to explain each round to you and how it was prepared. It’s definitely a splurge but perfect to celebrate a special occasion and a must visit spot for sushi lovers and foodies. It’s a speakeasy concept with a rotating seasonal menu influenced by a featured chef from one of the many Hai Hospitality restaurants. So if you like Uchi, you’ll love Oheya. Same great food, just a little more elevated.

I can not say enough about this Omakase. This is THEE best one I have tried in Houston. The menu was inspired, you can tell they take great pride in their menu planning and preparation. It’s like going to an intimate party thrown by your good friends that love what they do and want to share their gift. The pacing of the tastings was well done. The offerings were bold. I just don’t understand how these complex flavors came together so spectacularly. Every bite was well layered and unique. Even the nigiri pieces were bright and exciting. It was a joy to eat. I literally want to come back every other month as the menu changes. It was just a great meal from start to finish!

I hesitate to write this review for fear that I am going to hasten what is inevitable, that it will soon take months before a seat is available. It was simply perfect. You are greeted with a beautiful small cocktail. You take your seat, a waitress quickly takes your drink order. We went with the sake pairing. Some niceties from the sushi chef and then away they go. I think I counted 18 courses. Not a weak course in the bunch. It started strong with the caviar, and never lets up. You just sit there is awe of all the complex subtle flavors. Omakase only dinner by uchi chefs. It’s more American style omakase than traditional japanese as far as the food but the space is nice and intimate. Very delish and fun night. The chefs were all friendly and the food was good! I feel like the yakumi on top of each nigiri was really the star of the bite and the fish, while still important, wasn’t what stood out in my mouth. The server was super knowledgeable and friendly, she was great.
