What a lovely BBQ joint. The staff are so friendly, everyone who helped us was so polite and kind. The GM and manager were also great. The food is next level delicious, highlights for me were the ‘Whole Hog Plate’ of course, the cornbread was the best I’d ever had, and ‘Ella’s Banana Puddin’ was a religious experience. Will be coming back again and again. Thank you guys!

1st time actually eating here. Food was good! Service is outstanding and very attentive. We ordered a slab of ribs (no sauce). Three sides: Mac and cheese (tasted like pimento), hushpuppies (with honey butter) and slaw (half vinegar, half mayo mix). We also had an order of 12 wings. There were 4 sauces on the table to choose from. My favorite was the Kathy’s Sauce. It was tangy with a little kick of pepper but a dash of sweetness. I wasn’t a fan of the Bama 16 sauce, it was too sweet. Rodney’s Sauce was similar to a vinegar based white sauce but it was too thin for my liking. Maybe this sauce would be good as a vinegarette dressing. The Other Sauce wasn’t very memorable for me. I’d definitely return.

Had a good trip to Rodney Scotts’s. First of all… the service was outstanding. Multiple friendly staff that were highly attentive. Restaurant is kept clean and atmosphere is good. Now for the food… overall it is very good. Portions were excellent, most was very good, and a couple parts were average. The outstanding: Brisket is excellent. Turkey Club was excellent (per my wife). Mac and Cheese is near outstanding. The following are very good: Pork Shoulder, Banana Pudding, and the “Whole Hog.” Baked beans were slightly above average. If I’m being picky… my least favorite part was the sauces. They are largely vinegar and/or Tabasco based. Nothing smoked, nothing brown sugar based. Not much variety in flavor profiles outside of those two ingredients… especially given that there are 4 options. Still… the brisket and Pork shoulder were so good that they didn’t need sauce, so I can overlook that minor issue. Would definitely return.

Outstanding service Can’t speak highly enough about the staff and manager Darius. We had fun hearing the description of the process and food preparation. Sensed a passion and appreciated his care. My favorites were the ribs and collard greens. Best collard greens I’ve ever had and terrific ribs.

So I got the 3 meat combo with turkey, ribs and whole pig which is just another name for pulled pork with Mac and cheese and baked beans. Over all the flavor is good. Turkey doesn’t have a lot of smoke to it but was tender, pork was dry until you add the whole lot of vinegar Rodney’s sauce, ribs are tender but a little on the fatty side. Mac and cheese is ok just wish it had more wetness but the baked beans well they had a BONE in them!! See photos below! I’m not sure if that is standard at Rodney Scott’s. I might give them another chance but they are far from the top of BBQ joints in bhm. Not worth $30 in my opinion!!!

When you pull up and smell smoke and see stacks of wood outside you know it’s going to be good. You can see into the pit room, if you use the back entrance. Got the 3 meat combo with the whole hog, ribs and brisket. All was very good and tender with tons of flavor. But what I came for the whole hog was more than I expected and out of this world. I definitely could hang out here all day. You won’t be disappointed!

I was in town for work and Rodney Scott’s was just a short walk from the hotel. I ate there for lunch one day and dinner the next. For lunch, I had the turkey sandwich and it was smokey, moist and delicious. It could use some acid in the form of either pickles and/or onion, but it just comes plain with white sauce. For dinner, I ordered the catfish with hush puppies, mac & cheese and greens. Yes, yes and yes! My order had two very large fillets that were crispy and tender, but a tad bit under seasoned. The hush puppies were more cakey and less corn meal than you’d expect but still good. Add some honey butter and it takes them over the top. The mac & cheese was seriously some of the best I’ve ever had and the greens were somewhat sweet (different but I liked it) and tender but still with some bite. I’ll definitely visit again.

My waitress, Lakeitha, was simply amazing! She made us feel at home and provided the most excellent and memorable customer service. Please stop by and give their delicious food a try. You will not regret it. I was there tonight with two friends and we all had the wings. I also ordered the potato salad, mac & cheese and sweet tea. Everything was delicious and seasoned to perfection. We will definitely add this establishment to our favorite places to dine .

Lakeisha was AMAZING! My mother of 90 yrs old was a little hesitant but I assured her she would enjoy Rodney Scott’s BBQ. Two servers greeted us along with Nick, the mgr. Mother was won over from their greeting and especially Lakeisha’s exuberant hospitality. It relaxed me when mother relaxed. Lakeisha’s service was incredible, and attentive. She answered all our questions, gave recommendations, was pronto on refills. She assisted me with mother to the car and still gave all her other customers special attention. It’s rare to get this level of customer service these days. My 3rd time at the Homewood location. Each time was awesome. But today, I felt at home. Everyone was excellent, and Lakeisha was the icing & cherry on the cake!
