This place was amazing! You can tell that they know what they are doing with food here. I went on a Saturday shortly after they opened for supper at 4:30 p.m., and it filled up pretty fast. Sometimes, it was hard to get in between people to get a plate of food, but everyone seemed to be kind, and with a little patience, I got my plate filled. Panda Garden is a hotspot in Newton, Iowa. Another plus is that they open at 4:30p.m. so you know the food hasn’t been sitting all day long drying out. Be sure to try the peanut chicken! The sauce was excellent, plus the crunchy fried chicken took it to the next level. Everything was fresh and fabulous. 5 out of 5 stars! I left a tip that was more than my bill. Soft drinks are included in the under $20 price for adults, which makes this a great deal as well!

I walk into smelling old and musty air not the food smelling air I grew up to. We walked in to be seated and we could see a guy who worked there but his back was to us so we waited for a long minute before he looked up. Then upon sitting down the bench from the booth moves and when I sat down I sank into it. So now the table is higher than my chest. The decor and the inside just needs an overall clean. Especially the booths either need to be fixed or redone entirely.

I have to agree with some of the other people that have recently done one star reviews, most of the time when you go into a building that hasn’t been updated since the 90s and get Chinese food. It’s pretty good, however from the minute we got there I knew this buffet wasn’t going to be that, we should have just walked out the door. $35 for two people and the food isn’t even hot, it’s like the hospital cafeteria food but worse. As someone who’s worked in food service for years, I would never serve something to someone I would need myself and this is a prime example of a place that I will never go back to.

I have to agree with the other low star reviews. This place was great 10+ years ago, but now it’s ridiculously bad. The food was nowhere near hot, not even warm, and tasted bad. Drinks aren’t included in the $15/person buffet price either, if you get soda it’s more like $18/person. Go to the Hy-Vee Chinese place if you want chinese food. I’ve been here so much since I was a kid but I will never be coming back.

Well let’s see… Run down building, the feeling you were bothering them to be there, disposable dinnerware (plates, utensils, etc.), dirty, etc. Oh, and the food is sub-hospital cafeteria grade rubbish. A sticky table top is always fun too…

Fairly disappointing, even for an AYCE Chinese buffet. Plastic silverware, styrofoam plates. Waitress was not very attentive. Food was overcooked and a bit spicy. Outdated atmosphere and business model. These kind of places are dying. Bad food & poor service is to blame. We won’t be back.
