Definitely worth a visit! We got the shrimp and rib lunches, mac and cheese, shrimp gumbo, cornbread, lemonade and swamp water and a peach cobbler to go. Everything was great and staff was friendly and helpful in a charming atmosphere. Prices are a little expensive for smaller portions, but worth it to support a local business.

Visited this place while heading home from vacation. Wonderful environment and great history! Food was excellent and fresh! I never had shark before but it was very delicious. Sweet potato pie was good but the peach cobbler stole the show for dessert. We even met the chef and received a history lesson.

This spot is a true hidden gem. The food is the real deal. It’s obvious that these recipes have been passed down for many generations. My taste buds were singing from the first bite of the corn bread that arrived at our table with our drinks. The service was amazing and came with stories and history lessons about the various items that were artfully displayed around the quaint dining room. We went in, hoping for a good lunch, and were delighted to receive a hearty meal and fantastic experience.

The most amazing potato salad ever! The fried shrimp were very yummy but the BBQ chicken was soooo delicious- a Smokey complex flavor to the sauce that I wish I could find in a bottle! Highly recommend! Even the unsweetened tea was the best we’ve had!

BEST FOOD! The food was great. We ordered gumbo, shrimp, collards, potato salad, and half chicken. It was absolutely perfect. The staff was humble and carried great conversation. They served us in a timely manner, and kept us tended to. They told us the history of the Gullah and places to visit near by. We left full and with a jar of their lovely collard greens. We can’t wait to eat them. The environment felt warm and welcoming with giant windows and rocking chairs on the front porch. I only have one minor complaint. The parking was a little bit difficult to navigate, but could be fixed easily with just a sign. Overall this restaurant has been the best we’ve eaten.

We came specifically for peach cobbler. Asked about it as soon as we sat down but they said they were out. We said okay and ordered lunch anyway. A few minutes later our waiter went over to the table behind us and asked if they wanted cobbler…

OMG! OMG! The food took me back to childhood growing up in Summerville S.C. This place is a precious gem in Beaufort S.C. You feel like you know the staff they were so friendly and the shop next door is amazing..found some amazing skin care products. It was worth the trip all by itself and swamp water should be your drink of choice . Will be back!!
