While most people probably go for their cheesesteaks, I’m all about their corned beef! It’s made in-house and is so good. The make corned beef hoggies, clubs, specials and Reubens, all of which are great. Lately, I’ve been getting their corned beef club which is the best sandwich I’ve had in the area for a while. One of the regular guys at the counter recommended getting o e of their corned beef specials grilled since he didn’t like saurkraut, and it’s next on my list to try. Their hours are great too since they stay open later on the weekends than most of their competitors. Give them a try!

1st timer. I lived in S. Philly for 30 yrs so my standards are high. Perfectly good cheesesteak! I ordered online and there was no option for “sauce” as I usually get sauce & fried onions but no biggie. Decent amount of meat, choice of cheese but I like a crustier roll or it would have been great. I’ll order from here again. Busy Friday night or I would have asked if they were from S. Philly i.e. Hog Island.

I ordered a cheesesteak hoagie. I ate it in the restaurant, right away. But the bun was soggy, the meat was dry and hardly had any flavor, the toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion) were fine. I was really hoping for more flavor in the sandwich. It just tasted plain, but I was too hungry to waste my money.

We detoured here on our way home to Michigan. While it doesn’t look like much, the food is excellent and the customer service is even better. Portions are sizable, at least for the calzones. If we lived closer, we would be back!

WOW! I was so surprised by softness of the sandwich bread. It was well packed with meat & whatever you chose to add, mushrooms, cheese. onions. etc. Plus it was Good! I could only take 2 to 3 bites then I was done because of the delicious chicken wings we ordered Garlic, Barbecue & fried. They were sooo good. Look 4ward to returning during the summer! I was able to hve my remaining sandwich for lunch the next dayPosted photos I found plus service was great just wanted some coffee because it was cold out..

Just got back from an extremely long quarantine and the first thing we needed to do was stop by hog Island to refresh ourselves with one of our favorites…A pork and broccoli rabe Hi Tavern platter. My wife and I decided to just split the platter which was of course outstanding and packed with meat and fresh broccoli rabe. We were in the mood for some wings and asked for a dry rub style, the owner Dimitri was interested in our opinion so he whipped up some lemon pepper wings and a secret mix of spices on another set of wings. Both styles featured very full and meaty drumsticks and wings portions, but the secret mix was so good that my wife stopped sharing them after I had just one 🙂 I can’t explain the flavor but it’s something you need to ask him about and try. If you’re not that adventurous, the lemon pepper dry rub was outstanding as well! The food here speaks for itself, but Dimitri is a special business person who always goes out of his way to please his customers, his staff is reflective of his management style and very happy and always willing to ask how you’re doing and make sure that you enjoyed your meal. If you have an never checked out this spot you’re really missing out.
