In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. My husband and I are here to visit my daughter and we were looking for a place for lunch, saw the diner, and decided to try it. Definitely family friendly. I was expecting something like Denny’s but Black Bear offered so much more! I don’t eat a lot of meat but will have fish/tuna so I order a tuna salad. HUGE portions! Very much like home-cooked meals! The prices are very reasonable too!
