Tried out this local eatery hoping for the best since food options are somewhat limited on Mercer Island. I came away impressed with the tasty and authentic dim sum plates. I overheard the waitress explaining that the chef is new and a Hong Kong transplant. Also, they will be expanding the menu to include more noodle dishes and congee, which is promising.

I’ve only been hear once since the new ownership, but I really liked the Ma Po Tofu. It was not dumbed down, but had some serious heat and Szechuan peppercorn (numbing spice) which I love. I’m looking forward to trying some of the other dishes. Service was good, though there was only one other table so that might not mean much.

There is a new cook and kitchen at Tiger Garden and it’s fantastic. The food is Hong Kong style and delicious.

A hidden gem on Mercer Island! My wife and I have always wondered about this place as we drive past it daily. Thanksgiving day we originally planned to eat dim sum in downtown Chinatown/international district, but the wait was too long and chaotic. Decided to give this place a try after reading the reviews and was very pleasantly surprised.

I had the vegetarian tofu. It was staple American Chinese food and very delicious. Lots of tofu and veggies with onions, red bell peppers, and water chestnuts. They even give white rice for free – a rarity in my experience. Will definitely come back, thank you!

The Kung Pao I ordered was good, but had no spice at all when I asked for not too spicy.

Tried this spot over the weekend with some friends for my birthday! We tried calling & the phone line didn’t go through. We then ordered online and it worked so we walked over about 30 mins later to pickup the food. When we got there they hadn’t actually received our order because apparently their online portal calls them over the phone and because their phones were down they never received our order! We decided to place an order there still even though it had already been 30+ mins, the lady was very kind and took an entree of our bill for the inconvenience. They also closed their actually location & are serving food at the dive bar next door. We ended up getting our food in about 10 mins and it was pretty good! We got the sesame chicken, beef chow fun & veggie medley. We asked for fresh tofu and got fried, and our sesame chicken was a little hard/dry but other than that it was great! I would definitely come back & the service was great! Beef chow fun was delish.

I was very pleased with my experience at Tiger Garden. We ordered an array of steamed and pan fried options and there wasn’t one I wouldn’t get again. There are many vegetarian options. The green beans and the broccoli were cooked well. Interesting meat and fermented foods. Some only rice noodle options which were wheat free. I am looking forward to going back, eatting well and not breaking the bank.

S’ok. Not bad at all. The honey walnut shrimp—an indicator Chinese dish—was good, not too sweet or heavily sauced, but not dry either. The shrimp was frozen at the right temperature and only recently, so that they weren’t flabby or soggy after cooking. Mind you, most people people can’t pull that off, unless they’re from a restaurant family. My other indicator dish, 干炒牛河, wasn’t over-MSG’d or light on the beef. It wasn’t inundated with bean sprouts. The wok was definitely hot enough that none of the noodles clumped badly, nor was there a pool of oil left in the bottom of the tray. (However, I’ve never had beef chow fun with egg in it before. Curious. It wasn’t bad. Just…odd.)
