Our family use to take out from Shiki Hana quite often ever since we moved to the area. But recently the quality of their sushi and other dishes drastically declined. A few times their rice was not cooked properly and it was like eating uncooked sushi rice. And the other time was over cooked and the sushi rice was all clumped together (photo for reference) We use to love getting their chicken katsu but the last few times we got it, the breading over it would just fall off and the taste was just not the same. It’s a shame because we loved getting our sushi here. We then found out recently management and the staff had changed which is probably why the food quality is so bad now. We might give it another try but as of now might not go back for a while.

The food was really good. I tried the new dish” spicy tuna crispy rice”. Fresh, melting, tasty and crunchy all at the same time in mouth. Incredibly delicious combination. And seafood hibachi was amazing as well. This is one of the best Japanese restaurants I’ve been to. Hope they opening up the dine-in soon. Can’t wait to have sushi with a bottle of sake.

Food is always excellent, and at a reasonable price. Still takeout only, since 2020/COVID, but they say they are looking into maybe starting up in-house dining again. Either way, it’s a well-run business that deserves your support.

I used to take out from here almost weekly for their sushi roll lunch combo as it was my favorite in Fairfield hands down and had the best price. I recently noticed some differences and confirmed at the restaurant that management changed. While I understand price changes in this economy, I was hoping that quality wouldn’t change but it seems it has. The shrimp tempura used to have cucumber and be larger. The miso soup also used to be higher quality and the soy sauce used to be in a container instead of packets. They also now add tempura crunch to their spicy tuna and spicy salmon which is often a sign of skimping on the amount of fish and makes it less authentic. I will still be coming back as it’s still my favorite place in town and the prices are still reasonable but I wanted to address the changes in quality.

I have gone here for over 20 years and the staff was always organized, polite and graceful. There must be a change in ownership as the prices are doubled, staff scattered and not friendly. Tonight i called and was put on hold,,,25 minutes later i was at the restaurant and the front desk girl still had no clue I was on the phone, nor did she care. It’s a shame as it was a great place

Had sushi for 2, seafood yaki soba, and beef hibachi for family dinner tonight. Amazing fresh sushi. Tasty stir fried noodle. Delicious tender steak. Need to call a couple times during peak hours. Long wait but worth it. Love this place.

This place is great! They stay open later than a lot of other restaurants so it’s great for people who are traveling. The interior is simple but have a Japanese style. The staff is friendly and quick. The sushi was delicious and fresh! The miso soup was great too!

Such a disappointment! Shiki Hana used to be our go-to place for quality sushi, but no more. It seems like there’s been a change in ownership, and a major change in quality of the food. The sushi and sashimi were tasteless. Like you couldn’t tell the difference between tuna and salmon! The salmon don was a smaller portion than it used to be. The miso soup had a medicinal aftertaste. The beef teriyaki used to be wonderfully tender, but is now rubbery. The eel teriyaki skin used to be crisp, but is now gummy and unappetizing. They don’t even have taro in the tempura vegetables now. I hope the new management takes a step back and realizes they will run this business into the ground if they don’t get the quality back up. Our family’s rating of the restaurant went from a solid A to a struggling C-.

On a wed. Evening, I went to Shiki Hana for dinner. There was a sign saying take out only – so I ordered the hibachi dinner with chicken and shrimp. The food tasted awful – something seemed to be spoilt – and also way too sweet for me. Will not return.

Absolutley loved it! Had a wonderful server who never left us waiting, the atmosphere was very calming and most importantly the sushi was good! Everything tasted fresh, well prepared and was beautifully presented. I cant wait to go back to sit at the chabudai tables they have available .
