First time eating here since Sam retired and met Sean, our server, who was super courteous and welcoming – he is like a young Sam!. This place has a family run feel – as it always has – and the food is Amazing!!! I had a fried fish with human sauce and I was blown away. It is not the fanciest of restaurants- but it is “homey” Bottom Line: Eat Here if you want to enjoy great quality food and friendly service!!!! Cheers.

This place used to be THE PLACE to go for lunch when Sam was the owner. It’s gone downhill and it’s disappointing. My wife and I would go for the lunch buffet or dinner once a month as a treat for ourselves. One time my wife and I ordered take out and they gave us someone else’s food. So they called and asked if we could take it back, which was fine considering it was about a 6 minute drive. And then they called AGAIN no more than 3 minutes later asking where we were with the food. Really? That left a sour taste with us. I would love to see Sam come back and run it or at least show the new owner how it’s done. For now I think we will find somewhere else to go.

Good atmosphere. Great food. Ordered the General Sous chicken with spicy soup, rice, and an egg roll. Food came out and was pleasantly surprised by the large portions. Left with a full stomach and enjoyed the overall experience.

This was an awesome find, I’ve recently moved to johnstown and have been having a hard time finding good lunch places. Szechuan was great they game me a quarter for the meter outside while i ordered food to go. The owner, Sam i think was his name, Gave me a free soda while i waited.

This being Western PA, I didn’t have very high hopes for this restaurant. I’m Chinese and my family owned a restaurant. I’ve worked in the restaurant so I have a bit of higher standard when it comes to Chinese food. For Western PA tastes, the food is good. The buffet is very Americanized, however, they Quality is still there despite the quantity. The folks I was with loved the food and I will say it’s good.

I still really like the food at Szechuan since the ownership change. The food still has a great place and serving sizes are very nice. Eating in is not the nicest as the place does need renovated. It does have a nice little bar and lunch time and weekend buffets.

The last time I was here was in 2010 when I lived in Johnstown. My husband was in the service during this time. We would frequent this restaurant because of the ambient atmosphere and hospitality. We never encountered any negative situations while here either. We loved the comfort of the homemade chips and duck sauce as well as the tea, as well as the decor. We still talk about this place til this day and we still call it our FAVORITE CHINESE RESTAURANT. The price is just right and you really couldn’t ask for more. I just hope this place is as wonderful as it was when my daughter was a baby. I actually just read a flashback post on FB when I took my daughter to the restaurant and we were missing her daddy. I wish I had one near me. If I ever come back to Johnstown or even pass through I will be sure to stop here, as long as it is still open.

Szechuan is a great place to take your family co workers or even for a business meeting its a great environment with very great costomer service. I come here atleast 3-4 times a month and its always very wonderful and great service. Sam hired such wonderful waiters and waitress’s. I promise if you come here you will not be dissapointed and for those who reside on the scalp Avenue or Bedford Street area there is a whole other location on scalp Avenue as well

DEBIT CARD USERS BEWARE: I ordered food for delivery. They forgot my rice and my soup. I called up they said 15 minutes. 15 minutes came around I called up again. He argued with me (later found out it was the owners son) saying that I had to pay the delivery fee again. I said I wasn’t we both hung up. The rice and soup was delivered. But I had an additional 2$ charge in my CC. He charged me another 2$ to deliver the soup and rice that they originally forgot. I noticed this several days later. They offered me a free soup. I called my bank and They said I couldn’t really do anything about it. I’m not sure of the reason. I believe it was because it was ran through as a debit instead of a credit. Such a shady new owner charging additional fees for their mistakes.
