I was expecting more. Hope this helps you. Almost there really good. Good service. Clean restaurant. Presentation of the food. It was nice. Flavorless food tastes extremely bland. We ordered medium rare steak and we got medium well. The French onion soup okay. You need to caramelize those onions more. The cream of asparagus I can taste the onions. I didn’t taste cream. The best part was Dessert! The menu is all over the place. Very disappointed with the Ratatouille. The bone-in chicken was the best dish on the menu. Not for $25. I think this restaurant has potential. You need to adjust your menu and taste your food when you cook it. The chef was offended when we asked some questions.

I had high hopes for this place and it’s sad to say it was a let down overall. We quickly got seated and made our order of their steak and the chef’s special of Duck à l’orange. The duck was pretty good but the steak was very overcooked. Waitress didn’t check in on us until much later so I just decided to eat the steak but didn’t finish it because it just wasn’t that great. For a high priced place like this I had much higher hopes, it was decent but I can’t say I would go back.

I’d been wanting to try out Bistro Provenance for some time, but it kept closing unexpectedly. We actually made reservations for Valentine’s and had to make last-minute plans when we got an email saying our reservation had been cancelled by the restaurant, as it had temporarily closed with no notice. We finally made it there for our anniversary and went all out, getting drinks, soup, salads/starters, entrees, and dessert. Our check totaled around $250. Unfortunately, while it wasn’t terrible, the food was generally worse than going to other local restaurants that cost about half that. I’d say it’s a mid tier restaurant charging fine dining prices. To be fair, the newish waitress was reasonably good and we tipped accordingly, but we won’t be back.

Amazing service. The staff was incredible and really made our experience exceptional. It is a little pricey, but not absurd; especially if you go at lunchtime. We set a reservation, but at least for a Friday lunch was not necessary. The onion soup has earned its good reputation. I tried the soup of the day, which I thought was healthy and still very tasty (celery something or other). I got the steak frites, the fries being seasoned with truffle. Though the fries were below par, the steak was incredible. Perfectly cooked and I couldn’t get enough of the sauce. My wife got the wild mushroom papardelle, which she thoroughly enjoyed. We got a creme brulee and the seasonal tart (peach) and enjoyed both. The atmosphere was great, and I can only imagine it much better for dinner. Once again, I must emphasize that service really made this experience great. Food was good; atmosphere enjoyable; but the staff really made this a 5 star review. Last note, menus online are outdated, prices for lunch were actually cheaper, but didn’t include as many options.

The filet was incredible- cooked perfectly, it had an earthly taste that was complimented by the balsamic glaze. The variety of mushrooms soaked in the flavor and gave each bite a wonderful texture. I also loved the garlic mashed potatoes and the generous portions.

Update, May 2023: Bistro Provenance reopened under new ownership. My partner and I had a lovely dinner at Bistro Provenance. We ate the bone marrow and potato galette to start. I had the chicken and my partner had the salmon for our main course. For dessert, we split the chocolate pot de creme. We absolutely loved the food. The bone marrow was amazing – highly recommend. The potato galette was also delicious. The chicken had a ratatouille and together the dish was absolutely mouth watering. I only give it a four out of five starts because my partner’s salmon seemed a bit under seasoned, kind of lack-luster compared to my chicken. The dessert pot de creme was so silky, smooth, and decadent. I also drank one of their mixed drinks, which the bartender easily made non-alcoholic for us. Very accommodating. AND they honored our gift card mentioned in my February 2023 review below. I highly recommend this restaurant. I hope it stays here in provo for a long time.

New ownership and things are looking really good. Same owners as Communal, Black Sheep, Chom, etc. We had Steak Frites, Caprese Sandwich, French Onion soup, and Crème Brûlée. All very good and Sam provided excellent service as well. Love the music and atmosphere.
