I was looking to cater a small dinner at my house for 10-12 people. I chose Jamaican because we had a taste for island food. I called/emailed 4 places. When I didn’t hear back from them after 2 days, I went ahead and ordered through Negril thru their online system. I received a confirmation of my request, then a confirmation for the order and payment a couple days later. I appreciate the efficient ordering process.

So my family and I are visiting from Richmond and felt for some Jamaican food. Mind you we are Jamaican as well. We ordered two oxtail dinners and patty and cocoa bread. When we got home, what a surprise. The portion size for a large was most definitely not a large. The rice and peas and cabbage were in the to go container and the oxtail was in a small bowl. When we opened the oxtail, the oxtail was full of water. It looked more like a stew. No gravy at all, with some big carrots and one lovely dumpling on top. Really? Never in my life. And we’ve eaten at many restaurants but this one is definitely at the bottom of the bunch. Highly disappointed but at least the patty was good.

My favorite meal from this eatery is the oxtail dinner with a side of fried plantains. I’ve never regretted that choice for over a dozen orders. There is more than enough parking in the lot.

I discovered this place when I moved to Laurel. The food is good to me, but when they took a short hiatus… it seemed like the portions changed. My dinner platter the past 2 or 3 meals had been heavy on the rice and peas. Like the weight of the to go plate is from rice and peas (the entire bottom). The protein is minimal, and there is a sprinkle of cabbage. It wasn’t always like this. I’d rather be up charged for extra meat than dealing with bone and maybe one meaty chicken leg. It’s very stingy for the price.

Ordered delivery. Food came hot and delicious. Exactly what we ordered. The fricasse chicken with all white meat was fried perfectly. The jerk wings were so saucy, spicy, and good.

Food was good. I got the jerk chicken with rice and beans and cabbage. I also ordered a side of plantains. Everything was good. I feel like the cabbage could have had more seasoning. I also felt like they gave a lot of rice and not enough cabbage. Overall, I was still satisfied. I would definitely go back again. The cashier was also helpful in helping me pick out what I wanted to eat.

I ordered the Snapper Escovitch sandwich and chicken soup with coco bread. Overall, the food was tasty and the flavors on point. It was my first time trying the Snapper Escovitch sandwich and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised as I had not had it in a sandwich form before! The chicken soup was tasty with the right amount of pepper. In my view, the food was good value for money as I had enough for 2 days. Will definitely be back!!!

Ordered stew chicken with rice/beans, Cabbage and a beef patty. Entire mean is Unseasoned and bland. Rice was dry and had no taste, beans tasted old. I paid extra for white chicken and it was dry. The chicken tasted like they just dipped it in the sauce and did not marinate it. Cabbage was boring. The beef patty was decent. Overall waste of money. I ordered here several years ago and was disappointed and decided to take another chance. Bad idea!!! Save your money. My bottle of ginger ale is the best part of my meal!

Silver spring location is way better save your time. The cashier at the front was rude and on her phone I believed she was wearing braids. I tried to purchase sauce as I usually do at the other location and she said no only 2…..

Although I’ve been a happy customer at Negril for more than 3 decades, I was quite surprised recently when I purchased curry chicken for dinner! It was so tasty (like home cooked) and was enough for two servings! What was even more amazing was the cost…less that $12 (including tax)…WOW!!
