Baan Thai Bistro Menu – Indianapolis, IN

Type : Thai restaurant

Location : Indianapolis, IN

Casual. Thai Comfort Food.
“Baan” means home in Thai, and we want our restaurant to feel like you are in our home where we serve our favorite, authentic Thai recipes passed down from my grandmother to my mother, to me. Our menu consists of many dishes from my family’s home town in Udon Thani or Issan, a region located in Northeast Thailand. Our food has many dishes that one may find in Laos, as well. Along with other popular Thai dishes, here are some of our Chef’s Favorite Creations: (Khao Soi) Chicken Drumsticks Curry w/ Noodles, Issan Thai Sausage & Sticky Rice (Sai Krok), Crispy Rice Salad (Nam Kao Tod), (Haw Mok) Red Curry Fish Custard, and our Crispy Pork Belly & Char Sui dish. (Moo Krob Moo Dang).

Our first time here, came for dinner. Waitstaff was polite, and people stopped by our table regularly to check on us. Food was very fresh and delicious. Place is small and cute and very clean. Has about 14 tables total, some of which are on a deck for outside dining. Parking lot is in the rear.

Staff was friendly even with having a system issue which you could tell was a huge annoyance for them.

This place was a pleasant surprise. I was in the mood for Thai drunken noodles while in Indy and thought I’d go to Siam square. Little did I know they were on sabbatical, so in an effort to satisfy the craving a friend suggested Baan Thai. It did not disappoint at all. The level of spice, vegetable crispness , amount of basil, and tenderness of the meat was great. Give them a try now before it gets difficult to get in due to popularity. Limited tables but full of great flavors.

Let’s get the important part out of the way: the food is unbelievable. We eat Thai at least once a week and this is our new favorite in Indianapolis. You know how every Thai place is kind of the same? (And that’s ok! It’s comforting.) Well…This place is different! It has all the dishes you’re familiar with, along with new, authentic family recipes you’ve never heard of. The atmosphere is top notch. My pictures do not do justice, but it is super cute and romantic. Outdoor dining is set up on a spacious patio with solar lighting all over. The chef goes out of her way to source exotic fresh, locally-grown produce no one else has and it shows… the flavors are complex and the ingredients are extra fresh and vibrant. The summer rolls were like eating something picked out of a garden in the backyard. This is a really unique spot and I can’t even believe it’s in Wanamaker. Try it out. It will be your new favorite.

I ordered the boat noodle soup, and it was delicious. The beef was very tender, and the broth was flavorful. So happy to see a new restaurant in Wanamaker!

We finally stopped in (around 530 on a Friday) and were seated immediately, though it filled up pretty quickly after we arrived. The decor is lovely. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. And the food is SO GOOD! Have been waiting for them to open and it was 100% worth the wait. So excited to have such a good Thai place so close! I got the Thai Fried Chicken & Rice Bowl, with a Thai iced tea on the side. And my boyfriend got the Pad Seuw. Everything was awesome!
