Listen, the food is everything. I ordered the fried chicken wings, yams, peppered Mac, and cheese with a cornbread muffin to go. As soon as I took my 1st bite, I wanted to go back and order more. The chicken had a crunch and crispness to it, OH my mouth is watering thinking about it. The Mac and cheese had pepper seasoning, not your average regular dish. Baby the yams, you did that chef. My first time trying Northern Soul Cafe and im soooo pleased! Very nice customer service and THE FOOD IS AMAZING! Its not easy finding tasty mac, but this place did its thing! Chicken was made to order so nice and hot just how I like it. Yam were great. Everything was great! Hands down. I drove all the way from Hartford to try and it did not disappoint. This will be my new official go-to spot.

As Southern food connoisseurs who grew up with great home cooked southern meals; we really enjoyed our take home meals at Northern soul cafe. The food was exquisite- the Mac and cheese was cheesy and consisted of multiple cheeses! The fried fish was battered to perfection and the Fried Salmon in the lemon pepper sauce – wow- delicious! #Firsttimers; We will be back!

Soon as I walked through the door I was greeted. You could smell the food cooking in the kitchen ❤️ Soul music playing, vibing while I was waiting for my food. Which was extremely good!!! I have to say the food here is ridiculously delicious. Everything on the menu is the bomb. The garlic Parmesan wings are an absolute must have they’re so flavorful and juicy. The salmon bites with the sweet chili sauce are AMAZING!!!!! The mac and cheese is to die for so cheesy. If you’re in the downtown area do yourself a favor and stop by and grab something to eat so worth it

A group of us stumbled upon this restaurant this weekend and were SO pleased. All of the food we got was delicious! The fried chicken was crispy, collard greens were tender and tasty, yams sweet and cinnamony. Adult and kid approved. The owners were also very friendly and kind.
