Yum! Great lunch stop. Homemade sourdough bread daily. There were 3 vegetarian options which was more than expected! The eggplant was my favorite, both salad and roasted potato sides were tasty.

Sandwiches are really very good. Bread is awesome tasting. Lots of meat and just the perfect amount of vegetables, etc. When asked if you want potatoes or salad, take the potatoes. You won’t be disappointed. They are seasoned perfectly. Nothing bad to say about this place except that the opening hours are too few. Prices are in line with a meal in other restaurants in this area although maybe slightly more expensive if you consider that you are only getting a sandwich. They run it out of an old Taco John’s location. No remodeling whatsoever. But you come here for the sandwiches and not the atmosphere, so it’s ok. Highly recommended for lunch. Only open Sunday – Wednesday lunch hours. Give it a shot. You’ll be glad you did.

We were passing through just looking for a little lunch. We saw the reviews and thought this might be a good stop for a local, better -than-subway experience. We were blown away! It’s in an old taco johns, and doesn’t look like much. It was clean and neat. The staff were kind and personable. But our sandwiches! They were incredible! The flavor outstanding, the bread just right, and it was real food! I had a beautiful spring green salad instead of chips, and the boys had real roasted potatoes. I grew up eating everything from KFC to fine bistro fair around Chicago. This place is a quick small town stop with bistro quality. I wish we had a place like this where we live now. And the price was affordable, so one might actually be able to stop in with some frequency. What a gem, I hope they make it.

We try to go to Max’s Deli at least once a week! The homemade sourdough is just amazing and every sandwich is delicious! We get a loaf of bread to take home for ourselves too!

Finally got to try Max’s and it did not disappoint! The flavors are amazing, quality ingredients and the bread is delicious. It is nice to have something with more unique offerings like this in Charles City.

Soooo yummy!! I’ve had a lot of Bahn Mi’s — one of my favorite sandwiches. I wondered what one out in the middle of Iowa would be like … Max’s did not dissapoint!!! their bread is awesome and the flavors were spot on. Everyone else liked their sandwiches too. very cute puppy
