I will forever call this sandwich shop “the rat trap.” I’ve been going here since I was a little girl with my dad. It’s such a special memory and the sandwiches are so delicious. They are absolutely full of fresh meat and produce. I always ask for a pickle on the side as they are homemade. And always pair a sandwich with their vast selection of root beers. It’s definitely a hidden gem and a local favorite. Please stay open forever.

Newcastle Cheese Shop AKA The Rat Trap, to the locals, is a community favorite. It’s one of our best kept secrets. Everything is fresh and delicious. I would recommend calling in your order, so you don’t have to wait in the long line. Otherwise, arrive after 1 pm to have the place to yourself. As you stand in line, grab your drinks and chips. I would recommend having the cheese shop have order slips ready for the customers to fill out while they stand in line. On the barrel by the door would be an ideal spot. Excellent deli sandwiches, the best I’ve ever had. Their potato salad is pretty yummy too. Great, friendly staff, even when they’re super busy (daily). The photo below is their signature Rat Trap, a combination of three meats of their choosing and two cheeses of their choosing on your choice of bread (but traditionally Dutch Crunch).

I was in the area a few days ago, driving through, & made it a point to stop by. My favorite sandwich shop. I havent been through here in 10 years, but the sandwiches are just as good as I remember. Love this sandwich shop!!!! My boyfriend was with me, his first time there. We both had the rat trap sandwich with all the works!! Absolutely Delicious!!!
