CarterQue has proper brisket! That should be all you need to hear about a BBQ joint because if they can’t do brisket, then nothing else will be on point either. With CarterQue, have no fear! The brisket is solid and the atmosphere is nice. And, don’t shy away from the spicy sauce. It’s not that hot.

Carter’s BQ is a busy restaurant located in Mt. Airy MD. The menu has a variety of items including Pulled Pork, Brisket, BQ Chicken, Burgers and sides. Portions are ample. Sides included French Fries. Coleslaw, Mac & Cheese to name a few. Kids menu available. There is indoor seating and a covered patio for outdoor seating. It is very busy. We’ll worth a visit.

Honestly the thing that stood out here was the service. VERY friendly and accommodating staff. They were 5 stars. The food was okay but, regrettably, nothing that knocked my socks off. The cornbread was the standout. Unfortunately, I was expecting stronger flavors, especially from the brisket which WAS very tender. Finding a way to add more smokiness and bold flavor to the food would make this a destination restaurant when paired with the service.

Whole family loved this place and that’s saying something with my picky little eaters. Our waitress Taylor was fantastic and so helpful and attentive! The food was delicious and we can’t wait to go back! And I don’t even like BBQ!

We’ve been to Carterque at least a dozen times ever since they opened years ago, so it’s plenty good enough for several visits a year. The meats are consistently good. This time I got the stuffed grilled cheese and it was a great combination of crisp, grilled bread, gooey mac and cheese and hearty pork. Add a few drops of BBQ sauce and it hit the spot.

This was a great stop along our ride on i70. We got the food Togo, but next time would definitely stop to eat inside. The meats were delicious, but the sides were real showstoppers! We got the pig tots (amazing!) Brisket sandwich and pulled chicken sandwich with mac and cheese, potato salad, and corn bread.

Best bbq around! Great prices, great food, and great service. They offer a rotating draft beer list as well as flights at a decent price. Not particularly impressed with the salads and wraps, but if you stick to the bbq and sandwich options, you’ll likely be pleased. They offer 4 house-made bbq sauce options – try them all, but the black raspberry steals the show (update: it’s now red raspberry, but still delish). You can even bring a bottle home (we keep one in the fridge and like to give them as a gift). Don’t sleep on the pulled pork eggrolls!

Got the brisket platter with coleslaw and potato salad. Portions are good and meat is tasty but was a little dry. Good sides though. I’d come back to try the ribs for sure.
