First time there. Highly recommend. Spotless, clean, impeccable service from the first greeting and throughout the dinner. It was worth it just for the naan. Kaddo Borwani pumpkin appetizer, Kabuli Pallow lamb, rice, raisins and julienne carrots. The Vegetarian Mantwo stuffed pastries with yellow split peas and carrot sauce. Sorry, no picture of pumpkin appetizer. Didn’t last long enough to take a snap. Please try. You will not be disappointed.

Unlike anything I’ve had before, this place is not afraid to make a meal like they know how. A well-oiled machine that is attentive, swift, and serving some excellent food that I will excitedly come back to try again. I went with one of their many lamb dishes and suffice to say, simplicity meets sophistication in the Helmand’s usage of simple ingredients to make something that leaves a great impression.

Food has always been great here. Good portion sizes and great tasting food. However the last time we went here, we had a very rude waiter (he was somewhat bald). He had a very condescending attitude. The strange part is the other staff (who are mostly Afghan) are/were quite nice.

This is a great meal before seeing a show or just looking for an affordable night out with unique options. You should make reservations if you plan to visit during peak dinner hours. The check-in process is a bit crowded and confusing, but the meal is worth it, especially if you don’t have a lot of time. The service is very prompt and the courses come out quickly. You can slow down the experience if you like, but the service seems accustomed to quicker visits. I would recommend as a stop in the Mt Vernon area.
