I was so excited to try this place due to me being a southerner but the lady that was cashier was very rude and short with me while I was ordering. I asked her was were the whiting filets and she proceeded to say aggressively “No it’s a fish, you don’t know what whiting is” not only was the response rude but it was also ignorant especially since I asked a simple question. The chicken was phenomenal though and the owner was a very nice guy but the cashier definitely made me not want to come again. The sides were decent but had minimal flavor and the ribs were very salty. I would go back just for the chicken though!

I saw this place showcased on FYI Philly and what a disappointment! Woman at the register taking orders was not a good representative of the owner who was bubbly and excited on FYI about southern cooking. The Mac and cheese was bland no cheddar Vermont or other cheeses, ribs were ok could and need to be served with sauce on them not in a separate container only to be given mild when I asked for spicy even though the label had an “s” for spicy and last the cake was dressed up pretty with confections sugar, was moist but I could not differentiate any flavor specifically even though I asked for lemon because it was not lemon. So Mr. Owner your flavor profiles need much work. This will not be a stop for me anymore.

Southern Flames catered a surprise birthday luncheon for me that was held on 8/8 at work for party of 12. It was an unfortunate disappointment. For the record, I have tried to call to discuss with them but no one answers the phone during peak hours of operation so my review will have to suffice for the discussion missed. The chicken and cornbread was burnt, the potato salad was watery. There was no sauce for the chicken provided, no catering setup or sternos as requested in order. When you are charged for delivery and setup, you should receive it and this is the second time that the order has been dropped at the front door. Attendees all felt that we were delivered old food and despite their efforts, it left me embarrassed as I was the was the one who introduced this vendor to Temple as a new caterer in 2022 and raved about their prior service within the college. At that time, my order was handled from start to finish by Manager Raylea. Unfortunately, I am told she is no longer there and perhaps this is why things have gone awry. I’m not sure, but I’m certainly not pleased with how they showed up here. I would love to remedy this with Southern Flames, because at this point, there will not be a third failed service.

I went there today and Ray she gave me the upmost Great customer service! I order the ribs, brisket, potatoes salad and collard greens the meat actually fell off the bones and the ribs was so good with the mild bbq sauce. The potatoes salad and collard greens taste Great season nicely. I did eat my brisket yet because I was full but I know I will not be disappointed when I eat tomorrow for lunch! Keep up the good work and I be back real soon!

OMG I have been hearing about this place for over a year. I was told it was owned by the senior pastor of the Grace Baptist Church of Germantown. I never met him, however you don’t find too many pastors owning a restaurant, however because of where I live and my work hoursI don’t get over in that neighborhood. After leaving church yesterday I wanted some barbecue and this popped into mind so I took the 35 minute ride up Germantown avenue and went in. I ordered a rib platter with three sides baked macaroni and cheese, potato salad and string beans. The ribs are falling off the bone tender and I do mean falling off the bone tender they taste good without sauce you don’t find that too often. Potato salad and string beans are just like my mama used to make them. I also treat myself to some peach cobbler, it too was delicious. The portions are definitely match the price.

Being that they were featured on channel 29, they didn’t have much left so We went with the fried Whiting, string beans, & potato salad. The fish was some of the best fish that I’ve had, & the string beans & potato salad were also on point! I’ll be back for the brisket & ribs….check them out!

Went there cause I seen it on fyi on channel 6 as well, I ordered the fried fish, it was not fresh at all, the baked mac was dry as dust, my Auntie told me she could see the blood on her chicken wings bones, turned her stomach. We were not happy campers at all. I hate to bash black business people but when they don’t meet the standards they claim, what can you do, They are very high in price, and don’t even give you a slice of corn bread. May Jesus help you cause you lost many customers behind this.

I’m a very picky eater. I love food that has flavor. I decided to give Southern Flames a try. Every single side (ordered 6) was cooked to perfection and the flavor was delicious I’ll definitely be back for more

They were not prepared for the mad Sunday rush. The ladies did the best they could. Owner came in looked around put an apron and then bounced. Macaroni cheese not my grandmothers . Yams were soupy. Proportion size thumbs down.
