The Original Van’s pig stand. The floor creaks and it has all the same memorabilia on the walls. The aroma of the place is to die for. Van’s is very good BBQ and this location has the best of all the Vans, it’s the original. I’ve been eating there for over 20yrs and it’s always the same. My favorites are the ribs and brisket. Sides would be fires and okra. Don’t miss out and get a slice of their famous rum pie. If you are looking for a local spot with good food and a little nostalgia this is worth the extra distance off I40.

We stopped here after leaving the Nomad animal encounter and weren’t all that excited after eating here. We had a BBQ truck, so we thought the meat was bland and mac n cheese was just okay. Ribs had a different kinda seasoning on them then we’ve ever had before, not bad just different. The carrot cake seemed to have cinnamon or something in it which I hadn’t had before either, kinda took over the flavor. Enjoyed the experience though, but would have rather spent $55 on something I enjoyed.

Really disappointed with our visit to Vans at lunch on Tuesday. Havent been in about 5 years so we were excited to eat here again when we were in town. Arrived just after 11 and there was only 2 other customers inside. Our chopped brisket was really fatty and several of us didnt finish the sandwiches and the side of mac and cheese we got was cold and not edible. The one positive was they offer gluten free buns but that’s negated when the meat on it isn’t edible.

The food was amazing. The atmosphere doesn’t really seem like a BBQ joint. It feels like a fast food restaurant to me. The servers or whatever they’re supposed to be tend to be a little rude at times even when they’re not busy. Almost as though you’re an inconvenience to them. For that reason alone I only get take out from here now. Again though the food is awesome.

Pretty good BBQ. Comes right off the bone and I ain’t chewing on a lick of rubber like other BBQ places. Their “napkins” are paper towels cause you gonna need’em. Their in house BBQ sauce is delicious to. My mac’n cheese and coleslaw was great. Over all I’ll be back again for some good eatn.

Great BBQ find in Shawnee, OK. For $9.25 I got the Pig Sandwich which came with a side and drink. They had several choices for BBQ sauces, I went with the peach habenero sauce which was just the right amount of sweet and heat at the same time. I highly recommend checking this place out.

This place is always great. I do wish they would have an option for regular French fries, but that’s just a preference. I absolutely love this is one of VERY FEW places in Shawnee I can get gluten free options due to my celiac disease.
